Check Out Jerron Bennett’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerron Bennett.

Hi Jerron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From the earliest I can remember I had a controller in my hand. I grew up on anime with Inuyasha being my first ever thanks to my mother. And we branched from that going to dragon ball to naruto I can’t even name them all, but they all inspired me to want to be active and try to do all the cool flips and moves I’d see on tv. When I was younger I would have my little brothers both attack me at a the same time or throw things at me to simulate training montages from my favorite shows, and well I guess all that work as a kid paid off. I never gave up being inspired from game and anime culture. There’s another huge inspiration that got me into training and it was “King” from the fighting game tekken! I just love the flashy moves, the poses, the feelings watching those scenes gave me made me want to feel how they felt in the show. I do what I do today to show everyone no matter your background no matter when you start you can set out to do amazing things! Don’t be afraid to voice who made you want to take that first leap because you’ll never know who can relate to you!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had huge mental struggles, and can say I still do. I haven’t been the most sane person. I’m a very imaginative person and with that tends to live in my own world a lot of the time. Fighting and training gives me a sense of reality because if I’m not fully aware I’ll get beat up, point blank. But it honestly forces me to stay present so even when I’m dealing with a depressive episode or am mad training always brings me back to reality to settle down.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have jumped from job to job because I’ve been looking for what suited me the best. I’ve sold insurance. I’ve trained kids to seniors how to defend themselves. And I’ve also been a chef assistant at a very popular restaurant in Chamblee. Still looking for what suits me so if more job opportunities arise I may take them, who knows. Training people has definitely has made me the most proud out of all my jobs because I’m actually giving people a life long skill that could save their life one day.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t fear looking a certain type of way. Most times people doing what you are doing at a higher level will see you and relate to their first times trying it and want to support you and even give helpful advice to make it easier to pick up. Just find something you find fun and give it your all to learn!
