Meet Jennifer Davis-McGhee of The McGhee Collective – Ms. Jennifer Pink in Conyers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Davis-McGhee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
8 years ago, I was a stay-at-home wife working on my credit, saving to buy a house and caring for my 2 kids who made the decision to end my marriage because I knew he wasn’t the man God had for me. That decision lead to me being broke, homeless and a single mom of 2. Survival kicked in and I became a welfare mom who applied for any and every job I saw, from Target to the government. After 6 months of at least 3 interviews, a week and still no job a friend suggested I start a business. 2 months later, I found myself homeless with 2 kids moving from one floor to the next couch from one motel to the next. Almost a year to the date, I made the decision to end my marriage, I received my letter from the state that my non-profit was real, my logos a government job offer and a place to live, all on the same day.

I would love to say the rest was a beautiful story to success, but my road had many many more ups and downs from having my 3rd child by my now 3rd Baby Daddy a year later, being evicted from that apartment blessing after 5 years with now 3 children to 4 promotions on that government job, 2 best-selling books and too many to count opportunities to grace stages and pulpits to speak and minister. The biggest mountain in my story was when God said “Go”, I left Los Angeles, California, my family, my GREAT government job, one of my children and moved 2,241 miles to Conyers, Georgia. 2 years later, I am still here as a full-time entrepreneur, married to the man God purposed for me with my 4th child.

I wouldn’t be able to stand boldly as the Transformational Mommy Growth Coach, impacting moms helping them uncover who they are, grow through their ish and create authentic, luxury brands if I hadn’t made the decision 8 years ago, to be honest with me and grow through every test, trial, tribulation, and victory on my journey.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has NOT been a smooth road, at all. My biggest struggles have been overcoming what other people think, say and want for me and the courage to stand boldly in my vision and His purpose for me. Learning how to drown out the outside noise and focus on self, was really hard especially when as a mother I was taught to focus more on the outside noise that what my soul needed. I struggled to create a balance between what I wanted and what my family needed; between who I was becoming and the mask the world knew. Ultimately by looking within, getting a life coach and a spiritual mentor I was able to overcome each challenge and focus on who I was, where I wanted to go and who I wanted to become.

The McGhee Collective is the family business that focuses on the healing, growth, and transformation of other Melanin Families so that the Melanin Community can THRIVE! Our motto is beautiful Melanin from head to toe, inside and out. My husband and I are both life coaches; he specializes in mindset addictions and I specialize in transformative growth, together we are Melanin Family Life Coaches. We specialize in helping Melanin Families (single parent, broken, two-parent, blended, new forming) do the work essential for them to grow and transform into the family they want and THRIVE! Individually and collectively my husband and I are known for our straight talk, no excuse approach. We personally have overcome too many statistics that should have taken us out and kept us in survival mode that we don’t play games, hold anything back and expect excuses to be left at the door.

When I’m not partnering with my husband, I enjoy focusing on Melanin MOMpreneurs ensuring they don’t lose themselves in the mothering or entrepreneurship process. I specialize in helping them unpack their bags so they can truly heal and transform, growing through ALL their ish, and learning each and every lesson from their journey. I’m known for being a mirror, boldly sharing my story, my highs, and lows, my life in such a way that everyone woman can see a piece of herself in me and know that they too can live their life and THRIVE!

What we are most proud of is creating our Melanin Family Tees. We both have strong opinions about and pride in the Melanin Community so to be able to create a product that allows others to show the world their Melanin Pride, Family Focus and Jesus Centering makes our hearts sing. I think what truly sets us apart is our commitment, passion and life journeys.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is definitely the place for a Melanin focused business I mean it’s full of Melanin greatness at every turn. No matter where you are starting out is hard, but anyone whose focused and determined can achieve success here in Atlanta. There’s literally a networking event every night and an opportunity to get your products and services seen every weekend through vending. There’s literally no excuse to not be seen and noticed in Atlanta, that is unless you don’t want to be of course.
