Meet North Druid Hills Advertising & Marketing: Spencer Beuerle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Beuerle.

Spencer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up in a really small town, in the middle of the desert, outside of Breaking Bad famous Albuquerque, New Mexico. After high school, I went to a traditional 4-year college and got a bachelor’s degree in graphic design with a minor in advertising and marketing. I then nabbed an internship at a local advertising agency, which turned into a job as a junior art director working for both local and national clients. Leaving that position, I decided to move to Atlanta and build a more refined portfolio at The Creative Circus where I am currently taking classes.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road throughout my career path so far. Coming from a small city like Albuquerque everyone in my class was fighting for the same one or two good design jobs that were available. I was fortunate enough to get one of those jobs and work with some amazing people along the way. Realizing that any sort of promising future was not available for me back home I decided to pack it all up and move to a buzzing metropolis that has been turning out great creatives who work all over the globe.

Do you feel luck has played a role in your life?
I think a tad bit of good luck has put me in the same room as some influential people in the past. This has helped to pave the way for the beginning of my career. Luck got me in the door and the rest was hard work.

Is there a quality or characteristic that has played an outsized role in your success?
I think work ethic goes without saying is probably the most important key to my success but a close second is being able to maintain great working relationships. It is important to not burn bridges in the small community of design.

What do you love about our city and what do you dislike?
I love having such a variety of options when it to things like food or activities. I went to a Hawks game for the first time last week and it was a blast! Coming from a small town the traffic is quite an adjustment to get used too.
