An Inspired Chat with Billye Sands

Billye Sands shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Billye, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up to my alarm of “Pure Imagination” from the movie Willy Wonka. Then I’m thankful for waking up. I feed my cat, get dressed, and look over my to do list for the day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey there! I’m Billye Sands out of Albany, GA. I’m a creative – my background is in music, photography, and videography.

Within the last 2 years, I started a business – bill_YAYfilms, L.L.C. – catering to businesses who’d like to grow their social media platform through cinematic marketing. So far, my clients range from restaurants, programmers/drone operators, local wrestling, and body spas.
Plus, I have a wonderful business partner who keeps things grounded. I’m very blessed to have the opportunity to help others grow!

My whole life has been a journey- from flying planes, to traveling abroad, to healing and getting to know myself and others. I’m particularly proud of defeating alcoholism – I’m 2 years sober 😁!

I’m continuously challenging myself to grow out of my comfort zone. I’m normally shy and reserved, so I force myself to put myself out there and network!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Living in survival mode. I had trauma, trust issues, and anxiety. If I’m to thrive it’s imperative to smash through these obstacles in order to grow.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Everyday haha! Luckily I’m stubborn and resilient.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Spider-man! Peter Parker is a nerd who makes mistakes but loves to help his community in any way he can!

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If immortality were real, what would you build?
Here in southwest Georgia, we lack connectivity to bigger cities like Tallahassee, Macon, Columbus, and Atlanta – I have to drive 45 minutes to get to I-75. I met an elderly woman who had never left Albany because it’s so cut off from the outside. I’d LOVE to build an affordable passenger rail system connecting Albany to other cities!
