We recently had the chance to connect with Chef Flossy and have shared our conversation below.
Chef , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I can’t even put into words how proud I felt hosting my very first pasta-making class at the Epicenter in Austell. To see 30 students all gathered around, learning, laughing, kneading dough, and creating something from scratch together it was truly a dream come true.
Cooking has always been my passion, but sharing that passion with others in such a hands-on way took it to another level. Watching everyone leave not only with pasta they made themselves, but also with smiles, new skills, and a sense of connection it reminded me why I do what I do.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a chef who’s found the perfect balance between passion and purpose. From creating fresh, flavorful meal preps to teaching pasta and dumpling making classes, food is not just my career it’s my way of connecting with people. What makes it interesting is that every class, every meal, every recipe carries a story, an experience, and a chance to bring joy to someone’s table. Cooking keeps me grounded, sharing it keeps me inspired.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My friend Betty has been more than just a classmate from culinary school he’s been a true mentor and inspiration. He taught me the chef game, showing me not only the techniques but also the mindset it takes to thrive in this world. What I’ll always be grateful for is the opportunity he gave me to join him in St. Thomas, where we chased our dreams together and brought our passion for food to life. That experience will always remind me how powerful it is to have someone believe in you and push you to go further.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience, humility, and resilience in ways success never could. Success can make you feel accomplished, but suffering forces you to sit with yourself, to confront what you’re made of, and to grow in silence when no one is clapping.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Integrity matters more than anything.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Most people see cooking as a task, but I see it as storytelling without words. It’s a language everyone understands, even if they’ve never spoken it.
