Erica ‘Erica B’ Bryant shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Erica ‘Erica B’, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am definitely more assured since the last 2 months that I am walking out my journey through my God given assignment. The next phase will require me to trust God even more.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Erica Bryant and I am the proud owner of Erica B Airbrush Designer. I create custom airbrush designs that inspires the youth and young at heart.
I am a Self Taught Airbrush Artist
No formal training or special college education in learning this skill. Just the school of hard knocks. Just me, the one airbrush with a lot of practice, a lot of praying, and patience.
Spanning 3 decades of being in this creative space I am now serving the Grand children of my original clients.
Airbrush is more than a skill for me it’s a tool to create smiles, enjoyable moments and lasting memories.
My company has a unique niche that stands out in this field. Our vision is not only a continued fashion trend..it has always been Christ centered.
Our designs are family friendly, eye catching and astonishing to the purchaser.
I am currently working on my next opportunities which include speaking endeavors, designing products that won’t require the airbrush and my next coloring book.
I recently applied for an opportunity that will take courage. I cried after I submitted the form because I know this will require more of me coming out of this shell of myself that requires more confidence and I am definitely leaning on the Lord to help me through this. There is a level of excitement that has me on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the results!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The time spent behind the walls of my family’s ß home learning this skill when I didn’t have a teacher, the areas of venerability of times I didn’t know where my next income would come from without a paycheck solely relying on my God given gift, skill and ability and the times I had to trust God was still doing a good work inside of me even when I felt like giving up when others doubted my credibility through the fragility of still being human and not perfect.
So, now it’s time to give back. My community needs it and I am praying on how to put my best foot forward to become a greater asset.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to save more of my money from my 1st job to invest in my own transportation and financial investments. The knowledge I am learning now at this age was neglected just being in certain environments, circles and not clearly understanding what life should look like 25 years after starting my business at the age of 21.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
“Content Is King” I think is such a false reality this generation is forced to achieve. Have we ever taken the time to be away from our cell phones not plugged into social media for more than a day or two?
I took a break from Instagram for an entire week in 2021 or 2022. I uninstalled the app and everything and the revelations I had for a new business idea was clear after that time I was away from the app. The Lord told me my focus was off. I know it was because I was trapped in the idea of comparison. Too busy paying attention to what the next creative was doing and trying to fit in that same arena was a lot pressure and false reality of identifying myself.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I would hope and my prayer is that I am dedicated to this vision which is more of a call and an assignment by God to create something for the generations to come, respect and not see it as a hobby, but the impact that’s being made on people’s lives. My sincerest journey now is to fulfill hopes and aspirations for my family to not only be pleased in the accomplishments, but also be able to live off it.
