An Inspired Chat with Evan Torch of Midtown

Evan Torch shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Evan, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
We’re out here running, actually; we don’t have time to walk or wander!

If we’re keeping it real, though, I’ve been able to overcome so much by simply setting my own path through clear, defined goals, however, in the ever changing world we live in today, I’d be remiss not to wander, frolic and even lose track of time to appreciate whats’ going right. That could be community-led events, staying engaged within my own network, or creative brainstorming to stay as centered as possible. I think we should all find our stride.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely, yes! I’m the founder of the video agency: “Torch’d Creative”.

We just officially launched so this is hot off the press! Built from the ground up, “Torch’d Creative’s sole mission is to help brands, businesses and organizations create content that’s true to their vision and will ultimately help them form a stronger connection with their customers. When people see “video agency” they tend to think someone just shows up with a fancy camera and presses record, but what we do is so much more. With 15 years in media production, I’ve interviewed thousands of celebrities, politicians, medical experts and community members, so I know how to bring out the best in someone when they’re in front of the camera. That’s what I believe separates Torch’d Creative from any other video production company.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband, Jorge, without a doubt!

He has always been beyond so supportive of my passion for video production and now that I run my own company, his continued support is so special. He’s seen me as the CEO from the moment we met and now that it’s come to fruition with Torch’d Creative, it’s so rewarding for me to show up as the version of myself that my husband saw a long time ago. He’s also a numbers guy, so that’s been another perk!

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Of course; listening is really an art form if you think about it.

As we’ve been filming and interviewing subjects for an upcoming documentary, I’m the one doing the bulk, of the listening and there’s been quite a few moments where a participant will answer a question so profoundly, I’ll just be left speechless in the interview. And that’s what I find so incredible about the work I do- that I become so connected to the stories of my clients, that I end up leaving every project with a piece of wisdom that didn’t exist beforehand. Now, I’ll actually upload and post those moments on our social media pages so that others can hopefully be as inspired as I was in that moment.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
LGBTQ+ non-profits!

Before Torch’d Creative came to be, I collaborated with many Atlanta-based LGBTQ+ organizations, creating videos that not only served their audiences, but generated substantial funding for their projects as well. Now that we’re able to create content at scale through Torch’d Creative, our company is committed to carrying that torch… and we will always dedicate a portion of our time and resources to giving back to the community and other important causes.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Without a doubt, I’m doing what I was born to do.

Pursuing a career in the arts, starting a business from nothing or following my dreams… those are all things people tell you NOT to do if you want to succeed, but hey, I’m still standing. I’ve been very blessed along the way, but I’m living proof that sheer will and determination can get you very far.

I lit the torch, now it’s up to me to pass it onto others.
