We recently had the chance to connect with Jae Coley and have shared our conversation below.
Jae, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Using my writing to touch and heal my readers and connect over what we go through in life and sisterhood.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a dynamic storyteller rooted in Florida’s lush landscapes and the electrifying culture of metro Atlanta. My voice is one of authenticity, resilience, and transformation. My journey through the complexities of self-discovery has been marked by trials of hurt, heartbreak, and healing, which serve as the foundation for deeply relatable narratives.
Understanding that no two stories are the same but each holds the power to shape who we are, I craft works that invite readers to confront their own paths with courage and vulnerability. With a grounded and undeniably relatable approach, I hope my writing speaks to the shared human experience, inspiring readers to find beauty in their struggles and strength in their truths.
Whether through personal storytelling or inspiring others to embrace their journeys, I strive to be more than an author – I strive to be a beacon of resilience, inviting readers to see themselves in every word.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that used to be quiet and wear the “everything is fine” mask – I’ve realized it’s okay to be authentic and accept support.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Like many, the fear of failure, especially when it comes to my writing. But I’d regret not telling my stories, not giving my characters a voice, and not seeing how far my writing could take me.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The importance of empathetic community. You never know what anyone is going through at any given point, so leading with kindness and empathy is essential.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
I think I’ve been dimming the light of my boldness – the part of me that dreams loudly. I played small due to self-doubt and to avoid failure, but now it’s time for me to shine brightly.
