An Inspired Chat with Kevin Edwards

Kevin Edwards shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
“The first 90 minutes of my day are very intentional and set the tone for everything else. I start around 5:30 AM with a walk through my neighborhood. This is my quiet time—I pray over my day, listen to uplifting music, and take a few moments to reflect on how blessed I am. It helps me center myself, stay positive, and approach the day with gratitude and focus.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“I am an independent author with six published books, that consist of Poetic Expressions – The Therapy Sessions, Kevin Turns Fear Into Feat, Kevin’s Big Win, This Is How My Santa Looks, Barkley’s Big Adventure, and Kevin’s European Christmas Tour. What makes my work unique is that every story I write is rooted in real-life experiences—moments of growth, resilience, and discovery that I’ve lived through and now share to inspire and help others. Writing is my way of turning life lessons into stories that readers can connect with and learn from.

Currently, I have several manuscripts in the editing stage that I’m excited to release in the near future. My goal is to continue creating meaningful, relatable content that encourages others to overcome challenges and embrace their own journeys.”

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
“As a child, I believed I was a misfit, a reject, and that I didn’t have a purpose. Today, I know that couldn’t be further from the truth. I’ve come to understand that I am wonderfully and creatively made, with a unique purpose—to share my life experiences with the world and inspire others through my stories.”

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
“I stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power when I completed my first book, Poetic Expressions – The Therapy Sessions. What began as a personal journal of my life—the good and the bad—turned into something bigger. Writing down my struggles was both therapeutic and healing, and it transformed my pain into purpose. What once hurt me was now helping others, and that realization changed everything.”

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
“No, the public version of me isn’t the full picture. Most people think I have it all together and that I’m very confident, but the truth is, I often feel insecure. I appear to be an extrovert, but deep down I’m really an introvert who sometimes struggles with social anxiety—though you’d never know it. I believe many gifted people are quite different behind the scenes, and I’m no exception.”

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
“I used to think my singing ability and books would be my legacy, but now I realize it’s so much bigger than that. My true legacy will be the lives I’ve impacted—the people who were encouraged, inspired, and uplifted by my music, my books, and my words. I hope I’m remembered for the difference I made and the influence I had on this earth.”
