We’re looking forward to introducing you to SuperbBeatmaker. Check out our conversation below.
Hi SuperbBeatmaker, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have you stood up for someone when it cost you something?
Most definitely! My goal has always to look from the underdogs perspective creatively. When I first started making producing I remember not receiving the attention I thought I deserved. I believe every artist deserves a chance no matter the outcome. I’ve definitely rooted and risked opportunities for an up and coming artist.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is SuperbBeatmaker, I’m a music producer. I was born and raised in Long Island, New York. I’ve been back and forth between Atlanta and New York in my early 20’s. I permanently moved to Atlanta after I got married. I produce all styles of music; hip hop, trap, soul, R&B, etc. When you hear that “SuperbBeatmaker when are you gonna stop” that’s me. I’ve always tried to bridge the gap between new artists and established artists. Music is about good energy, and I’ve always stuck by that rule.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Work ethic can break a bond for me. Most would say money, and I’m on the opposing side of that. The money will come after the work is done. Ownership and accountability restores relationships. Music is a very objective and opinionated field. One guy may do something and it works, but that might not work for you. Just be original and you’ll go far.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It’s your world. You only get one shot at life. You’re going to either take the shot or not; the shot can be good or bad. I’ve always live by the fact when I get older will I be pleased with my younger self. Why try and fit in when you’re a standout? That’s my motto. We’ll always see groups and clicks, but you can make a statement by being yourself.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family and music. After them two things, everything else comes last. Family is legacy and they see your ups and downs. Music has been my way of escaping anytime I’m going through anything. If you listen to any of my beats at certain time periods, they’re all telling a story.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
When I can make other people smile that’s what brings me peace. I’ve never been about money or fame, but always about what’s right. The right thing for me; is always giving back whether that’s time or work. I understood early on that sacrifices do pay off. Character puts you in rooms that money can’t.
