An Inspired Chat with Tanisha Mackin of McDonough

Tanisha Mackin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Tanisha, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Teaching writing and publishing has always been a challenging prospect for me, but I am excited to finally embrace this new journey.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As a 10x bestselling and award-winning author, ghostwriter, and publisher, I specialize in helping aspiring authors and business owners transform their expertise into published books. My business, formerly Tanisha Mackin Publishing, LLC, has been rebranded as Exclusive Services by Tanisha Mackin, LLC to better capture the full scope of services I offer my clients.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a wife, a mother, and a 9 to 5 employee before I embraced my true calling.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were many times I considered giving up, especially when my business was struggling. I had to learn that everything, including business, has its season.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
My current project is a new anthology dedicated to authors and business owners. The goal is to share stories of those who reclaimed their foundation after a personal or professional “storm” and to teach them how to build a business with this book.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
My greatest sense of peace comes from traveling. There is nothing I love more than exploring new places and experiencing the unique cultures and wildlife each destination holds. I love animals.
