Analisa Shepard

Hi Analisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I believe we all have a purpose and love is a key component of each one. It took a while for me to realize this through life’s ups and downs, but I think I’ve finally settled on what’s important in the sweet little beautiful life I get to live.

Like most kids, I grew up finding my way and yearning to find a deeper meaning in my life. I always felt a little more whole when I created but pursued a Civil Engineering degree instead, as I have always been fascinated with engineering and science.

When I think about it, life is magnificent and beautiful and I sometimes find myself in awe of many things. I graduated with a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from The University of Chattanooga in Tennessee. From there, I started a family with my best friend and now have three charming boys.

Motherhood has been one of the best journeys of my life, but being a mom, especially being a new mom, can be demanding and challenging. Over the past 7 years, I was busy creating a life at home that I’m so proud of and thank God for every single day, but as many know, a lot can be put on the back burner while raising a family and this was true with my art.

About a year after I had my third baby, I decided that it was time to paint again. I realized that I was tapping into the part of me that I’d been missing for so the part of me that made me feel completely whole with my family and all that’s important to me now as an adult.

There’s something about the feeling of being captivated by life’s beauty, but what’s even cooler is when you get to create a piece of that beauty from nothing. The best part is being able to bring that feeling to others show them what you feel and make them feel it too. Art brings out emotions in its viewers and I’m grateful I get to share what makes me happy in hopes for it to do the same to others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing that’s worth anything is ever smooth, is it? There’s always struggle but that’s what makes the good stuff really really good in the end.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m fond of painting enormous pieces. I kind of get lost in them while painting and I think that comes out in a lot of my work. Dreamy landscapes with a whimsy yet realistic touch are one of my specialties along with abstract pieces with high texture.

Almost all of my work comes with gold leaf or gold paint. In my opinion, it brings up the vibe several notches and makes my heart and soul really happy. What am I most proud of? It’s simple others enjoy my art!

What matters most to you? Why?
Art inspires us to have meaning and understanding. It cultivates beauty and helps us tap into where that beauty stems from. For me, it comes from a spiritual place, much deeper than what I can see surface level. This is one important component of my life that is essential for my existence.
