Check Out Bee Johnson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bee Johnson.

Hi Bee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Atlanta, and after moving around some my Mom got remarried, and we settled in Orlando. I went to middle and high school in Orlando, and once I graduated, I went into the Air Force. I was stationed at Travis Air Force base in California, where I spent four years serving my country as a Medical Technician. I got out of the military in 2003 and moved back to Atlanta to be closer to family. I spent the next 14 years in the medical field… and I absolutely hated it.

During those 14 years, a love for fitness began to develop. I was working out five days a week and wanted to stay in the best shape possible. A close friend helped me realize I should help other people get into great shape like I helped myself. So I began to take a few trainer jobs in the area to learn how it’s done. Once I saw I could make a living doing what I loved, I fired my 9-5 job and pursued my passion. I haven’t looked back. From that day, I worked with different studios and with many trainers in Atlanta from the Training Room, to Blast, to Turn and now I’m on my own. I continue to learning all that I can to help my clients reach their fitness goals.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a semi-smooth road. The biggest struggle for me was studios not appreciative of the fun experience I provided in class or the clients I brought in to sign-up for memberships. At the end of the day, you’re just a number, and I never thought going into fitness that studios treated it like a corporate job. So now I’m working with my own clients full time as well as training clients on the Openfit training app.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m also a producer, and I have my beats playing in the background of my fitness videos. I’m also developing a workout series incorporating my beats. It will sync my original music and exercises to create a fun, exciting experience for all fitness levels. I also have beats available for lease on my Beatstars page. So for anyone needing hot, royalty-free music for their videos, I’m your man. It will be a unique workout session for clients that’s fun, engaging, and get you results.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe the industry will have more digital/virtual workout options moving forward. You’ll probably start seeing apps on Amazon or shows on Netflix to workout to.
