Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Stovall.
Hi Brandon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born in San Francisco CA raised by way of Vallejo CA. My life as a kid was more of me being an adult. Parents divorced which gave me responsibilities kids shouldn’t have. At the age of nine, I was taking care of my Brothers and Sister. Mom wasn’t a part of my life in which that’s a whole story in itself. Skipping forward to me knowing I wanted to be an entertainer, I did the Martin Luther King “I Have A Dream” and Chief Joseph speeches in elementary in front of the whole school. After one day listening to 2pac’s “All Eyes On Me” album, I knew I wanted to rap. I started writing his lyrics down and re-wording them as my own. It got to the point where I was writing my own songs and recording them when cassettes were a thing. Imagine me at 12/13 with 2 boomboxes recording myself, verse, hook, even adlibs. I had drawing skills, basketball skills, and babysitting skills also.
Fast forward to High School is when I started doing Video Production for the Daily School Announcements at Hogan High. I was also a part of all the rallies for the school. Performing in front of the schools were my thing. From dancing at rallies, rapping for black history performance art events, leaving straight after school to make sure I take care/ watch my brothers and sister while Pops was at work, I was conducting adult-like things in which my dad nickname for me is “OLD MAN”. Before my time is what most people would say. After high school playing on the basketball team all four years, I met a particular person in 10th grade who was from Atlanta GA who convinced me to move to Atlanta GA. I moved in 2004. We ended up getting kicked out his dad’s house which brought us to go to school in Valdosta GA where we started a rap group called REDCLAAY. Real Educated Dedicated Cats Levitating All And You. That was short-lived. In 2008 is when Hustle Dream Production was Born. I started making my own beats and rapping on them. I had a hit song on the radio called Body Like Dat.
I also made a reality song about every rapper in Valdosta GA that didn’t go over to well with a lot of them. I decided the growth potential in that town was not working so I decided to move to Jacksonville GA. WORST 2 years of my life. Could not get ahead. That’s when I decided to move back to Atlanta. I started another group called Money Talks with the same person I moved out here for to pursue music. We did a bunch of open mics. One thing I learned is that not investing in yourself will get you nowhere. I decided to quit that and focus on getting my money up. After working a bunch of dead-end jobs, It wasn’t until 2020 when I decided to pick back up the camera and work for myself. I started hustling for the dream and invested in all the equipment I needed, started my own business using all my talents and techniques. I make beats, video production, logo creation, cover arts, graphic designing, studio recording, mix and mastering, even partnered with my brother 360Jeezy who happens to be a barber on a segment called Barbers Gone Wild where we get millions of views. I also cut hair on the side. Journey was rough and this is just the sped up version of my story and pages still being written. All I know is that with consistency and dedication, anyone can accomplish anything. Everything is possible! Hustle Dream Production LLC
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A bunch of obstacles. The normal ego obstacles. Couldn’t get a job obstacles. Hater obstacles. It all started when my own family outcasted us due to how my mother is. Police obstacles. Sad but normal obstacles black men in America face on a regular.
