Check Out Bridget Grayson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Grayson.

Hi Bridget, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began performing at the age of six years old. My mom enrolled me in dance school and around the same time, I was recruited by a talent agency, and ever since, I have been in love with both acting and dancing. I was always very shy and quiet when I was a kid, but performing always gave me a way to express myself and it was such an amazing feeling to do that.

As I got older, I continued to pursue the performing arts. During my time at St. John’s University, I studied acting and film production and continued my dance training outside of school. I believe this preparation has played a big role in where I am now. I have been casted in a few films, as well as writing some of my own and I have started my own dance organization call Just Vibe Dance where I teach hip hop & heels dance classes to kids and adults.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. There have been and always will be struggles and anyone in the entertainment industry can tell you it is a long and difficult journey. There’s so much rejection that you face on a daily basis, and that’s just the nature of the business. But despite that, you just have to keep going and not take the disappointments to heart and just use it as fuel to keep moving forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an actor and a dancer. I am currently working on two films that I have been casted in as the lead. I am also in the process of writing a screenplay which I will also eventually direct. When I am not on set or auditioning for a role, you can find me in the dance studio. The classes I teach are specifically hip hop classes which I offer for children and adults, and heels classes which I offer to adults only.

What sets me apart from others would be that I genuinely believe in connecting and helping others through my art. Whether it’s acting or dancing, I find that both help brings people together and closer to each other. Acting and filmmaking helps us share stories from our own experiences and others, which in turn can help other people who may be struggling and going through similar situations. Dance is one of the best ways to express yourself and there’s no better feeling than pouring your heart out on a dance floor. So many students of mine have told me how just coming to one class made such a difference for them. Connecting, inspiring and helping others is what I love most about acting, filmmaking and dancing.

What matters most to you?
My family matters the most to me. They have been so supportive in everything that I have done and am currently doing, and I know they will continue to be there for me in all my future endeavors as well. The unconditional and endless love they show me is unreal and I am truly blessed to have such an amazing support system in my life. I couldn’t have ask for better people to have around, and I hope they know how much I appreciate them. That being said, another thing that is very important to me is helping others.

My family comes from a southeast Asian country called Burma or Myanmar. The country has recently been in turmoil due to the military coup that began at the beginning of this year. The Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) in Myanmar is actively trying to save their country by peacefully protesting and supplying aide to the citizens that are being harmed. Many civilians have lost their lives due to the horrible acts of the military and their leader that is currently preventing the country from having a democracy by ignoring and overruling the votes of the people. I am donating money from my dance classes and selling t-shirts to help spread awareness of this situation. I encourage you to find out more about this issue and help spread the word and pitch in to help the people who are suffering in any way you can.
