Check Out Carlisa Lynn’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlisa Lynn.

Carlisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Let’s just start by saying as a child, I was very sassy and photogenic. I’ve always had a strong connection with fashion, photos and looking up to par no matter what. I used to sneak my aunts camera just to take photos and self-time them all with anything I could find to get the perfect angle. I fell in love with posting on social media as MySpace and Tumblr were very popular during the time. Shortly Facebook was a major thing. My love for everything grew more and more throughout the years as I’ve gained more knowledge on everything and began to find my personal style. Growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania where there’s little to no opportunities, with that being said I had to push myself 10xs harder to step my foot into the water. At the age of 18, I started to network through the socials that were available at the time. I began to build relationships and recognition with photographers, models, makeup artists, business owners, stylists and more!

At the age of 19, I got my first car ( 2000 Honda Civic ). I took a risk to travel frequently to all of the surrounding cities in my area (Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Rochester) I had little knowledge on how to do any of this modeling stuff whatsoever, but I knew this was where my heart was! I came from a very toxic poverty household with a lot of negative energy so I feel with me chasing my dreams it made me feel positive about myself and as an escape from my life back home. I continued to work and gain experience even though I still had a long way to go. I never gave up during those times. I’ve dealt with a lot of situations where I had to be more of a woman than a teenager. I later made another risky decision… I decided to pack up everything and move with my boyfriend out of state. We moved to Charlotte, NC! Although not specifically for me to model but there was an opportunity for me there. I worked with a few photographers during my that time with me living there. A year later, I decided to take another risk and move to Atlanta, GA where I currently reside. I moved with less than two months of living expenses including bills. I was ready and didn’t have a plan I just knew that’s where I wanted to go. We moved, things got rough where it almost seemed impossible to live here… but I made a way and continued to pursue my dreams. I met with some of the top creatives in Atlanta throughout the years I’ve built my experience high to where I’m able to make a living off of me following my dreams. I’ve been featured in many major music videos, modeled for brands such as Edge Boutique (@knowstyleusa) Icon (@iconswim ) and many more. I’ve had the pleasure to meet many legends throughout this city and get a taste of the celebrity lifestyle. There’s far more details and struggles, victories but that will be for a later time… I still have a long way to go as I’m now a mother of 2 boys and still finding myself. In addition to modeling, fashion, and social media I’m now an active YouTuber at @lifewithcarlisa & @carlisaandsam.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This road has been very bumpy with ups and downs throughout the years. I’d say a few of my struggles were mentally financially, lack of discipline, lack of knowledge and low self-love.

Being in this field requires all of those if not more! When you are lacking in any of those there’s always 10xs more that needs to be done. This field will eat you alive and take advantage of you 1,000%. I’ve experienced it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full-time entrepreneur where I am a fashion / beauty / commercial model, brand business owner (restarting my company 2022), YouTuber. There’s a few more thing I have in store that I’d love to add to my list. I’m not currently specialized but I’m looking to specialize in helping other creatives build their social medias by giving them the tools and knowledge to do so along with helping new and aspiring models pursue their paths of modeling with coaching, skills, 1 on 1s and more! I’m known as being a model YouTuber and business owner. I feel something that sets me apart from others is my mindset, the true passion I have behind everything I do, my personality, my drive and myself as a whole overall. I’m a very caring person and want to help anyone in any way that I can and with all of the experiences I’ve encountered, I haven’t met too many people with that vibe.

What does success mean to you?
Success in my opinion doesn’t have a time limit… as long as you’ve accomplished everything you’ve set to accomplish and overcome where your proud of yourself than I feel you’ve reached success. A lot of people view success only occurs once you’ve made millions of dollars or are a popular celebrity. My vision of success doesn’t entail any of that. A lot of people will make you feel unworthy if you don’t fit their look on success the way they do.. which I feel is a toxic thing but that’s another story mentally. I’ve learned to stick within myself and do what I feel is best for me and my opinion only matters. I’m success if I say I’m successful with taking the proper actions and accomplishing everything on my list.
