Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Marshall.
Hi Chelsea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I became a mom during my first year of college, and at the time, my priorities shifted quickly. Like many young moms, I put my own plans on hold to focus on raising my child. A few years later, as a single mom of two, I found myself at a turning point and also the lowest point in my life. I knew I wanted to build something for myself not just a career, but a life that I felt proud of. And I wanted my kids to see that it could be done as well.
That’s when I decided to pursue something I had always been drawn to. Going back to school while raising two kids wasn’t easy, but it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It gave me the opportunity to turn my creativity into a career and create a future on my own terms.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, no, it wasn’t smooth at all. I was working, going to school full time, and raising two kids, and it felt overwhelming most days. I was very much in a grind. There were a lot of moments where I questioned my decision and wondered why the heck I was there.
But at the same time, I knew why I started. I wanted something more for myself and my kids, so I just kept showing up, even on the days I didn’t feel confident or sure. It wasn’t perfect, but I made it work.
And even after I finished school, it didn’t suddenly get easier. If anything, that’s when it really became real. I had to build a clientele from scratch, stay consistent, and figure everything out on my own while still holding it all together. There’s no safety net at that point, it’s all on you.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a hairstylist and lash artist. I’m experienced in all areas of hair. But specifically love blonding, lived-in color, and big transformative services that make my clients feel like the best version of themselves. I love creating looks that are effortless but elevated. Something that grows out beautifully and fits into my clients’ real, everyday lives.
I’d say I’m known for the overall experience I give my clients. My chair isn’t just about hair but it’s a space where people feel comfortable, heard, and taken care of. A lot of my clients have turned into close friends, and that’s something I’m really proud of.
What sets me apart is the balance between the technical side and the personal side. I truly care about the integrity of the hair and creating results that are realistic and maintainable, but I also care just as much about how my clients feel when they leave. I want them to feel confident, refreshed, and like themselves, just elevated.
Honestly, what I’m most proud of is building this career. Everything I’ve created has come from consistency, hard work, and genuinely loving what I do. And I have an amazing team that I get to work with everyday. They’ve truly become my family.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If you’re thinking about doing something, just do it and follow through. Don’t wait until you feel ready, because you probably never will. I wholeheartedly believe that growth comes from being uncomfortable, and every step that feels uncertain is usually the one that pushes you forward the most.
