Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Hefferman.
Hi Chloe, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out in theatre when I was in middle school, but all my life I was told that I lit up on stage. From performances for the end of the year in elementary school to any art class I had. I didn’t really start to take theatre seriously until 7th grade where I finally decided this was what I wanted to pursue for college. I ultimately decided to change to an online school program, so I would be able focus on outside training: vocal lessons, private coaching, and conservatory program. During this period of time, COVID hit, and it sort of redirected me in my decision to pursue theatre. I went through a period of exploring other options such as, Marine Biology and Interactive Game Design. Once I started the college process, I mainly was interested in Game Design, so I ultimately ended up looking at SCAD for their program. I chose to do their Rising Star Program which allowed me to take one class relating to my major of interest and one acting class. This would be my deciding factor of whether I wanted to pursue acting again, as I was then currently involved at a local theatre in my new hometown. Their acting program really interested me, and so I decided to attend SCAD for Acting with a minor in Casting and Business Management and Entrepreneurship. I am now a rising senior at SCAD Atlanta hoping to continue in a path of acting, casting, and stage management.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As stated before, COVID redirected what I wanted to do for college, which demotivated me from a lot of work. But I found my drive and passion again after realizing that the entertainment business was my home.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Recently, I have been stage managing many of our productions for our department at SCAD as well as helping lead our new theatre club, The Blackbox Theatre Club. Some of my most recent production were stage managing our winter show, “Fairview” by Jackie Sibblies Drury, and I am currently working on our club’s current play, “A Home, Caught in the Flames”, which was written by one of our board members, Jahi Gooding. As far as acting goes, I am currently in our department’s show of “A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream” which will be taking place in the SCAD Courtyard! I am very proud of all the projects I am working on, no matter whether I am acting or on production! I am also currently an intern at the SCAD Atlanta Casting Office which is where I collaborate with student directors to cast their final capstone films.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future, I hope to be working either in a casting office or continuing to stage manage for stage productions while pursuing my passion of acting. I am not sure where I will be taken in the journey, but I will continue to prepare myself for that one door to open so I can be ready for any opportunity.
