Today we’d like to introduce you to Culdasac Kid.
Hi Culdasac, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Cul-Da-Sac-Kid — real name Raylun Barlow — is an independent rapper and multi-talented music artist carving out his own lane in the hip-hop world. Born in Indiana and raised on the south side of Atlanta, Cul-Da-Sac-Kid brings a unique blend of Midwestern grit and Southern flavor to his sound. Known for recording much of his music from the comfort of his home studio, he’s built a raw and authentic catalog that resonates with fans looking for something fun & real. Before going solo, he was part of the dynamic touring group called “The Headlinerz”, where he and his groupmate shared stages and worked alongside industry heavyweights like Jermaine Dupri, CeeLo Green and artist apart of 2016 rap game tv series. Music runs in his family too — his father is a well-known director & Content Creator in Atlanta named SlickTwoThree, having worked on major shows like Love & Hip Hop along with various other VH1 tv shows and directed music videos for several of big artists. Cul-Da-Sac-Kid is more than a name — it’s a statement of origin, nostalgia, independence, and undeniable hustle.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting out I had a much more seamless route into the music industry with my farther managing me and my friend in our rap group. We were introduced to a lot of industry practice at a young age that help me learn how to move when I eventually went solo and fully independent. And the biggest obstacle there is finding new ears and fighting with my own self confidence while trying make the music that I want to become I know it’s a different sound than my peers.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I do is right and produce hip-hop music, but I specialize in is creative directing writing an A&R work and what I’ve been known most for is my music and comical content on social media and the piece of work that I’m the most proud of is my project kids next-door because this was an idea that I had in my head and made come to life all powered and funded by me.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I truly have so many childhood memories from playing with my cousins to go on our family vacations to just act in a fool in grade school and if I had to pick one, it would be the first time I performed at school I had got kicked out of the talent show because I brought my group mate to the show and he did not go to the school, but we ran through the whole crowd in our school and got everyone super lit, and it was a core memory for everyone that year.
