Check Out Derek Holloway’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Holloway.

Hi Derek, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well, how I started in this business I would call it fate. I used to be on a bowling league, and one of the guys I bowl with, him and his wife own a home healthcare company. They explained to me, how I can start my own company. And basically him and his wife have been mentors to me with my business ever since I started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a little challenging, because I still have my 9-5, which pay my bills. And I’m married with 3 kids, and I am very much in their lives. So, I work on the business as much as I can throughout the week, and I don’t have enough clients yet to quit my main job. Getting clients has really been a tough challenge, I’ve visited hospitals and doctors offices, and still have not been able to get any clients through doctor referrals as of yet. And finding people when I’m out and about can be challenging as well. I do attend different types of events sometimes, that cater to children with special needs, as a vendor.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a home healthcare company. I provide in-home nursing services to medically fragile children under the age of 21. These services are covered under Medicaid, and the best part is that there is no cost to the family for service. What I am proud of, is taking the risk to go out on my own to chase this entrepreneurial dream of being my own boss. And to be able to assist families in need, and to be able to provide jobs for people is something to be proud of. What sets me apart from the rest is that I stay in constant contact with the families, and I go out to their homes to visit the kids frequently.

Any big plans?
Once I get to a certain amount of clients I will quit my main job. This way I can focus all my attention into building this business and making it very successful. And I want to be known for a having a company that really cares about making a positive impact on helping people. And for people to know that I truly care about helping them……this is my truth.
