Check Out Jailane Kendale’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jailane Kendale.

Hi Jailane, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I was always that kid who felt everything deeply and wasn’t afraid to show it. Acting became a natural outlet for me to channel those emotions into something creative. From my earliest performances in school theater to stepping onto professional sets, I knew I’d found what made me feel alive.

My interest in modeling sparked early too. I was around 10 when my mom brought my sister and me to a Victoria’s Secret sale, and they had a fashion show playing on the screens. I remember being completely captivated by how effortlessly the models owned the runway. That moment lit a spark in me. Even though I knew I didn’t fit the conventional mold—especially when it came to height—I felt determined to prove there was room for different kinds of beauty and presence.

After high school, I made the decision not to take the traditional college route. It was definitely intimidating because I went to a school where pursuing higher education was the expected path. But I felt called to go all-in on my career instead. That choice taught me resilience early on because it meant I had to carve out my own opportunities and believe in myself before anyone else did.

At 18, I moved to Atlanta on my own and started really pushing for myself—building connections, creating content, and taking every opportunity I could find to get experience and exposure. It wasn’t always easy, but putting myself out there consistently helped me grow. Eventually, all that work paid off, and I signed with my agency at 20.

Today, I’m continuing to build my career in both acting and modeling, staying open to new challenges, and hoping to inspire others to trust their own timing and paths.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful. Growing up, before I knew I wanted to challenge and change the modeling sphere, I actually struggled a lot with insecurity around the industry’s standards. I spent years feeling like I wasn’t enough or like I had to change parts of myself to be accepted. Eventually, I realized that constantly picking myself apart over things I couldn’t control wasn’t sustainable. So instead, I started using those insecurities as fuel to build my confidence and remind myself that my differences could be my strengths.

Moving to a new city at 18 without much of a safety net was also really scary. There were a lot of moments when I questioned whether I was making the right choice. I’ve dealt with inconsistent work, financial stress, and the pressure to prove myself in spaces where I didn’t always feel like I belonged. There have been times when I went without eating, spent every dollar I had—including my savings—just to fund my career, even for the smallest wins.

It wasn’t glamorous, but every sacrifice taught me something: resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of believing in myself even when no one else did. I’m grateful for every obstacle because it shaped me into the person I am today and made me appreciate every step forward that much more.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an actress and model, and I’d say I specialize in bringing authenticity and emotion to everything I do—whether it’s stepping into a character or representing a brand.

As an actress, I’m passionate about telling stories that make people feel seen. I love knowing that I’m giving a voice to experiences others might not have lived through yet—or may never experience themselves—but can still feel connected to. Film and TV helped me feel less alone growing up, and I want to create that same sense of understanding and empathy for others.

As a model, I’m known for breaking traditional molds and showing that confidence and presence matter just as much—if not more—than meeting a list of physical requirements. I’ve always been determined to create space for people who don’t fit the industry’s narrow standards, especially when it comes to height.

I’m most proud of opening a New York Fashion Week show at only 5’1”, and being invited back to walk again this year for another designer. That experience was a huge personal milestone and a reminder that you don’t have to fit the typical blueprint to make an impact. I’m also incredibly proud of my work on Netflix, and all the movies, TV shows, and commercials I’ve been part of so far. Every project, big or small, has taught me something and shaped me into the professional I am today.

What sets me apart is that I’m not afraid to be vulnerable. I think there’s a lot of power in showing the parts of yourself that aren’t perfect or polished, because that’s what people connect to. Whether I’m acting or modeling, I always aim to make people feel something real.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely—there are so many people who deserve credit for where I am today.

First and foremost, my agency, Stisa Talent. They’ve been my biggest advocates from the very beginning—believing in me, pushing for me, and helping me open doors I never would have imagined on my own.

Of course, my family—my mom, dad, brother, and sister—have always been there for me. They never let me fail and have supported me unconditionally in every single thing I’ve done, even when the path I chose wasn’t traditional.

I’m also incredibly grateful for my amazing supporters and fans who constantly interact with everything I put out, promote my work, and remind me why I keep going. Their encouragement means more than I can put into words.

Lastly, I’m thankful for everyone I’ve met along the way who shared a kind word, some advice, or simply believed in me. The love and support I’ve received—even from people I’ve crossed paths with only briefly—have made such a difference in my journey.
