Check Out Kenjah’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenjah.

Hi Kenjah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started singing at 5 years old. My parents used to put on family talent shows at home, and after they taught me Whitney Houston’s “Count On Me,” you couldn’t shut me up after that! My 1st-grade teacher, Ms. Marion, heard me sing and encouraged me to perform in the P.S. 377 talent show. From then on, I was regularly asked to sing the national anthem and perform solos throughout school shows. In middle school, I started acting. At 12, I researched the industry myself and landed my first agent. Thankfully, my parents recognized my passion and natural talent and supported me every step of the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
From 12 to 15, I got a lot of callbacks for Disney Channel projects and films starring actors like Martin Lawrence and Ice Cube, but never landed the roles. Then my family faced some hardships, so I shifted my focus to school for a while. As I got older, it was tough finding the right support and connections for my music, and I started to wonder if I was chasing an impossible dream. There were definitely some discouraging days, but deep down something inside wouldn’t let me give up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Jamaican-American Music Artist and Actress with a passion for uplifting others. What sets me apart is my love for people as well as my desire to tell stories that inspire, heal, and make a difference. I’m committed to sharing the art that God places on my heart. I’m proud that through every challenge, I never lost faith. I’m now a music artist and actress, appearing as Dr. Madison Montgomery on CBS’s Beyond the Gates where my performance has been submitted for Emmy consideration. I filmed a role in Judgment Day alongside Will Ferrell, Zac Efron, and Regina Hall. This year I’m also starring in a lead role in a Lifetime feature film.
I have a new Summer single and music video coming out June 2026 titled “When I’m With You”.
Now, I’m finally watching those dreams come to fruition and I’m just getting started.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Trust that what’s meant for you will find its way to you as long as you are in alignment with it. When obstacles arise, don’t lose faith because they’re often shaping and preparing you for what’s ahead. Everyone’s journey is different, so don’t compare yours to anyone else’s. Let life unfold in its own timing, and allow yourself to be surprised by what’s possible!
