Check Out Kye Harris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kye Harris.

Hi Kye, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved from Central Texas to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue my dream of becoming apart of the entertainment industry. I transferred from Central Texas College to Morehouse College to study film, knowing that being surrounded by students from across the country would give me the opportunity to build relationships, expand my network, and grow as an artist.

After graduating, I faced a challenging transition period. I found myself sleeping in my car, but I was determined not to give up or move back home. I kept pushing forward, stayed focused, and didn’t tell many people what I was going through until I was able to get back on my feet. During that time, I used the money I earned driving Uber to invest into my career, my craft, and my vision.

That season built my resilience and shaped who I am today. Now, I have the freedom to create, tell stories, and pursue my vision without the limitations I once faced. Everything I’ve built comes from taking a chance on myself and staying committed to the dream.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has definitely not been smooth. One of the biggest struggles has been building a career in entertainment while trying to survive and stay committed to my vision. Moving to Atlanta was a major risk, and there were moments where I had to sacrifice comfort and stability to keep chasing the dream.

After graduating, I went through a period where I was sleeping in my car while still working, creating, and investing into myself. I had to learn discipline, patience, and how to keep believing in myself even when there wasn’t much external proof that things were going to work out.

One of the hardest moments in my journey was losing my brother. He was one of my biggest supporters and someone who always believed in me and pushed me to keep going. Losing him changed me, and there were moments where grief made it difficult to stay focused, but his belief in me became one of the reasons I continued to push forward.

Another challenge has been learning how to build something from the ground up without a blueprint. Creating opportunities, developing my brand, and finding the right people to collaborate with has required consistency, patience, and faith.

Those experiences shaped me into who I am today. The challenges gave me resilience, perspective, and a deeper purpose behind the work I create. I appreciate where I am now because I know what it took to get here, and I continue to build in honor of the people and experiences that shaped me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a musician and director with a passion for storytelling. Over the years, I’ve developed the ability to bring my own creative ideas to life by learning how to shoot and edit my own videos and short films. I was blessed to have people like Dopezulu, Shanfotografia, and Shotbyoh pour into me and teach me the skills behind filming and editing, which allowed me to become more self-sufficient as a creator.

I specialize in creating visual stories that connect with people emotionally and highlight real-life experiences. One of the projects I’m most proud of is my short film “Strong Friend,” which focuses on the effects of depression and suicide and the importance of checking on the people around us. That project means a lot to me because it represents using my creativity to start meaningful conversations and impact people beyond entertainment.

I’m also proud of having the opportunity to be part of the Storm Tour, a tour for up-and-coming artists. Being able to travel to different cities and states, perform, and experience the love and support from different communities was a special moment for me. My team and I were welcomed with open arms, and it showed me the impact of connecting with people through art.

What sets me apart is my willingness to grind, learn, and create a way out of no way. I’ve never been someone who believes something is impossible. My journey has been built on consistency, faith, and the mindset that if I don’t know how to do something, I’ll learn it and figure it out.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
One of the biggest resources that continues to help me in life is the Bible. My faith has been a major foundation for me and helps guide the way I approach challenges, discipline, and my purpose.

Outside of that, I’ve gained a lot of perspective from books that focus on mindset, personal growth, leadership, and understanding people. Some books that have impacted me are 50th Law of Power, As A Man Thinketh, The Way of The Superior Man, Laws of Human Nature, The 48 Laws of Power, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, and Hustle Harder.

Each of these books has taught me different lessons — from developing a stronger mindset, understanding human behavior, staying disciplined, and learning how to navigate life and business. I’m always trying to learn, grow, and improve because I believe becoming a better person directly impacts the work I create and the way I show up in life.
