Check Out Lafayette Keitt’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lafayette Keitt.

Hi Lafayette, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Writing this, I wondered how can I sum up such a tough life? From my mother abandoning me somewhere to, to drug infested environments, to abuses of my body, mind and the souls of others around me. 11 years ago however, I started pursuing Zen Buddhism, not as a religion, but as a lifestyle. I learned to let go, I learned how to be compassionate, present, achieve clarity. I am a better man then I was, inside and out. I’ve found that I am an artist and so I Rap, as mycareer. My LLC (LaaDuhGoat) has been going strong for about 2 years. I worked and worked in my job at Amazon, until I could see how to make consistent money in music, while practicing hours on end to be better than everyone I could possibly come across in this business. In my first year, I was commissioned to write over 180 songs, jingles for business’s, corporations, real estate companies, major labels. I’ve done it all in this time. I believed I could use the down time at my job to better my craft, and learn what I need to learn. I worked until I had a career in music… and I quit. I believe I have a duty as an artist to reflect the times… and to offer what I have learned up until this point. I believe there is a desperate need for Artists who do not want their art to be separated from who they are. I don’t wear a mask. Every word I rap is synonymous with who I am. The world should see how that looks.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In my business, the only challenge has been to keep my consistency in forward motion. Every day I had gotten up at 4am to write for a few hours, and through out the day, 8 hours altogether. To keep this up every day was quite the chore. Now it is habitual. It is like that with every struggle in my life and business, if it’s hard, I’m just at the beginning. It’ll become my character eventually. Now the current “struggle” is getting better. I also Rap coach, so I learn as my clients ask questions. Artists’ from 9yr old to 56 so far. In every level of their career, from just starting out to making difficult real life label business moves. It is quite a task to keep being on my toes.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am known for my perspective above all. A lil bit by my fashion. My specialty is Rap. I reach over 500,000 viewers from my Facebook page per month. I am living and creating works that encourage others and providing opinions that break people through to healing. What sets me apart is that I am every bit the person that I claim online, in my music, and every where in between… I’m set apart because I am real, time that is so *not. I am proud that if a secret camera were dropped on me at anytime, it would see me being exactly who I say I am. I raise the standard.

What matters most to you? Why?
Contributing back to my fellow man. So my main goal is to continue *becoming. The reason is because I’ve realized on my walk in Zen Buddhism that we are all we got. No separation from me and “other”. It’s my duty to take care of “myself” which is the world around me.
