Check Out Nicole Brewer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Brewer.

Hi Nicole , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m orginally from Detroit, Michigan but my family moved to Atlanta around 20 years ago or so. I have been based in Atlanta part time in the summers as I return back from living abroad in the Middle East (Oman) as an ESL teacher and influencer. I co-created I Luv 2 Globe Trot while first living in South Korea with my business partner Renee. We both moved to different destinations (she Australia and myself Oman) and continued to create content about expat life and travels as Black women from the States. We have grown our travel community on Facebook to over 10K members. I’ve personally visited over 50 countries and love inspiring others to travel and see the world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Living abroad for most of the year has not been particuarly easy as a single Black woman. I definitely miss my family and long for the days when I can return to Atlanta to be with my family and friends there. Culture shock was real when I first left, and reverse culture shock is also a thing when I return back home to Atlanta and immerse myself with people back home.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m most proud of being a travel influencer, freelance writer, author and English language teacher abroad. I wear many hats and my main goal has been to inspire others to see the world. I’ve authored A Guide to Landing an English Teaching Job Abroad and An ABC Guide to Children’s Games Around the World (both available on Amazon) to inspire the adults and kids to see the world. I’ve also written Oman Culture Smart! The Essential Guide to Customs and Culture and contributed to other books/series about travel.

I’ve also been featured in a host of publications such as CNBC, CNN Travel, Forbes, TripAdvisor, National Geographic Traveler and more and contributed to the likes of Tripsavvy, TripAdvisor, Travel & Leisure and more. I’m most proud of being an accomplished author and freelance travel writer.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is to never give up and keep going. You never know who you are inspiring along the way.
