Check Out Shedarren Fanning’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shedarren Fanning.

Hi Shedarren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2013 I was sitting at work contemplating if I even wanted to be a police officer in Atlanta, GA anymore and was just fed up with seeing so much violent crime, hatred, and division in communities similar to the ones I grew up in kid in Alabama. I was hurt to see that there was very little support in rebuilding hope and Humanity in those communities. All you saw was the police department being forced and obligated to take responsibility for the big humanity mess these communities were in a while, keeping in mind our job as law enforcement is to attend to 911 emergencies versus feeding a hungry child, taking a child to school because the parent is on drugs or mentoring a teenage kid who is thinking about joining a gang.

So I decided enough was enough I have to do something more than making an arrest, enforce state laws and city ordinance because clearly, that wasn’t restoring hope and Humanity in those communities affected by Crime, criminal street gangs, teen pregnancy, and protection for people in the community who was scared or in fear of being labeled a snitch. After all, they spoke out and watched to see positive change in their communities. So I did my part by not giving up on Humanity and started a non-profit organization called “The Badge To Family Outreach,” where I community partnered with Law enforcement, First responders, community leaders, social media influencers, and anyone who believed in Humanity and peace that wasn’t scared to take the lead and in changing major issue in Humanity and community development. We have currently developed a few programs as our being initiative in bringing Humanity back in all communities, such as: Back TO School drive: Thanksgiving Turkey Drive: EMS CPR Class: Cancer Awareness: Physical and mental wellness: Community service: Juvenile intervention and prevention programs: raising money to feed orphans in Uganda our Website is www.badge2familyoutreach.com Instagram is @BadgetoFamily.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The roads have been extremely challenging but very rewarding. Some of the struggles were funding to do things, sponsors, community partners, and volunteers as a resource. However, God has placed good-hearted people in place to community partner with our organization, and I can see things moving forward a lot quicker than expected.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently employed as a Sergeant for a police dept in the Atlanta metro area. I am known all over the world as the sergeant in 2020 during the Geoge Flloyd riots who was able to gain the support and love from thousands of upset protestors and impact over 1.3 million people’s perception of police and how some are fighting along the sides with them in injustice and utilizing out power to make changes in leadership. I’m also known for my B.T.F.O. Clothing line, where we community partnered with L.A. Fitness in Douglasville and do a health and wellness day to burn calories while addressing mental wellness. A lot of gym members attend the gym daily for depression, anxiety, and stress. things I specialize in are: Tactical field operations: Field Investigations: Narcotic Operations: Crisis Intervention: Mexican Cartel investigations: Criminal street gang investigations: Advance Gang investigations: Public order/ Civil disturbance riots https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IpIMpqUYDuM&t=23s https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dN4Lb1DjN7M.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
My view on risk-taking is simple (All or Nothing). We all have to die one day. I feel like this is my purpose and why God placed me on this earth, and the greater reward is knowing I was a positive figure for kids and everyone who is watching, although I am far from perfect and daily make mistakes.
