Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheree Frederick.
Hi Sheree, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Sheree also known as Sunshine Reigns Sunshine Reigns AKA Griselda Blanca AKA Uni the Motivator AKA The Party Starter or you can call me the Hood Unicorn! I am a serial entrepreneur that doesn’t understand how to give up. I have an award-winning radio show named All Hustle No Fear on Hits 92.3 Atl. It started because I am the owners’ hairstylist. After years of her (Kelz Munchin) telling me I needed my own show, I finally gave in. This is when I found a new love. My show provides a platform for entrepreneurs to promote their business and for local unsigned artists to promote their music. Each week we discuss current events, financial news, health and wellness, and black folk magic. We aim to motivate and promote positivity to the masses. Another focus of All Hustle No Fear is to combat the stigma of cannabis use and promote the legalization of the plant as well as federal regulation.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building a radio show from the ground up has been a big obstacle in my life. I didn’t go to school for mass media or telecommunications or even journalism. I’m a hairstylist by trade. So my learning curve has been a steep one. I teach myself EVERYTHING and do everything for my show (editing, booking, producing, audio/video, and engineer). The show I started in August of 2019 is not the show you see today nor will it be the same show in a year. We are ever-growing and networking, which means we are getting bigger and better. Using social media to document my journey, I’ve gained a fan base of other entrepreneurs that use my story to motivate and inspire them. They have witnessed my successes as well as my failures.
Covid created another challenge because the station had to close but I refused to let my show die and lose its growing fan base. It made me so much better because I had to adapt to the new conditions. Every obstacle I’ve faced I’ve run to head-on. My failures are my lessons, and in the words of Will Smith, often fail and fail hard. And I have, and I have been transparent about it along the way, hoping that my story will motivate others to continue theirs.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the Hood Unicorn baby! I am a master cosmetologist and I curate pop-up spa events with my business The Retreat Pop Up Spa. I also Host nighttime events and private parties around ATL. Many know me as the Party Starter. Most know me as the girl walking around Bonfireatl in a unicorn onesie! I also am an avid Forex trader and trainer helping others to learn how to make money in the foreign exchange market. I’m known to post motivational videos (and all-out crazy ones) on my social media with the hopes of one day being a motivational speaker on a larger platform. And on top of all of that, I’m a mom of two and a wife so yeah, I do a lot.
What matters most to you? Why?
Being authentic and true to myself. I live my life daily knowing that people wonder what’s wrong with her lol, yet they are drawn to me because of my ability to have fun and see the best in life. Even when I’m low, I’m still high (Pun intended) I refuse to live a mediocre life and I know that I was put on this earth to touch the masses. To motivate others and to bring joy. I wake up every day trying to do just that. I want the world to know my name. I must leave my legacy behind written in stone for generations to remember me. My motto in life and on my show is I just wanna run my business and do ratchet shit with my friends dats it!
