Check Out Solomon Snowden’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Solomon Snowden.

Solomon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started in Albany, Georgia dancing and I went skating one day because they had a dance session at the rink and my friends invited me. I always wanted to be a breakdancer and I saw this guy named Steve Cantrell break dancing, backflipping and everything on skates and I figured if I learned how to skate I could learn to breakdance. So I started learning how to skate and it was horrible. No one wanted to help me because I was 16 and I was supposed to know how to skate and people were really mean. I met friends at school who skated sometimes and they started helping me. As I kept skating I started getting better but it was really hard to learn with people always telling you that you suck and will never be anything every day as you skated and was really trying to learn. Fast forward I learned how to skate and was doing dub smashes. I saw all these viral people doing things and making cool videos and was saying I can do this and could do it with friends but it was hard to get people on the same page to do routines because everyone just wanted to freestyle.

I started collabing with people and doing challenges to get shoutouts and reposted and gain followers and get exposure. I later switched it over to skates. During this time it was hard because people didn’t see me having a future in skate or dance because they said it wouldn’t provide me enough money to live and I needed to get a real job and get real skills. A few people believed in me. I worked two jobs to get money to survive as I tried pushing my dream. I would try to make a video or something when I had some kind of free time or squeeze a video in at work or anything to stay active and keep it going. I could only skate one time a week just to make sure I had money and people could see I’m working and would criticize me. Fast forward it was working and started getting followers, attention, and promos. My friend Brandon Morales told me I needed to start using TikTok but I just honestly didn’t have time. Covid hit and I had time to get on TikTok. He told me I needed to make three videos a day and get active. That’s a lot of content but I made it shake creating ideas and later started driving every week 3 hours to ATL and back to shoot content with Brandon and others for a while. Fast forward it paid off and I can say I skate for a living and I made it Despite all the doubt. Thankful to my family for helping me out when times were hard and money was low. Thank God for all the blessings and for keeping me strong through the trials and tribulations.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Money, Time, Creating, walking everywhere with no car, not having places to film or practice at. Discrimination, always having to bug my family for something and trying not to be a burden and much more.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a roller skating content creator. I’m known for viral videos doing routines and tricks like head slides and funny choreography to trending sounds. I’m proud that I made it against the odds. My energy and humbleness separate me from others. All good vibes over here.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
How I use to walk back and forth to dance practice and the rink to learn how to dance and skate and had a difficult time with all the mean people trying to tear me down to get where I am now. But the things and content I have been creating I was doing it for years before people started noticing me so the content didn’t really change the audience got bigger.

Pricing:

  • I do $55 1 on 1 one hour skate lessons
  • If it’s 10 or more people I do $35 a person from up to 2-4 hours
