Check Out Ta’Shi B’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ta’Shi B.

Hi Ta’Shi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Ta’Shionna Bradford aka Ta’Shi B. I’m a singer/songwriter from Jacksonville, FL. I’m 23 y/o and recently graduated from Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s in fine arts. I have been singing since six years old and the very first song I learned was “If I ain’t got you” by Alicia keys. I used to always get bribed into singing songs, but I was kind of shy about it. I also had an issue with finishing songs and making them “my own”, like if I messed up I’d just stop completely and I JUST HAD to sing the song exactly like the persons’ whose song it was. I did a plethora of talent shows and competitions growing up, which many of them I won. So with music, I just sort of treated singing like it was a hobby.

In high school, I attended Paxon school for advanced studies and was apart of the illustrious choir. We were superior rated and it was like “The thing” to be in chorus because we were just that good. We won everything. In chorus, our teacher Dr. shingles, didn’t play when it came to harmonies, dynamics, enunciation and etc. I truly believe it made me appreciate music more AND it made me more intentional and crispier, which I decided to take music seriously. I highly became an artist as an accident in February of last year and kinda just skyrocketed from there -Amid Pandemic- might I add. I inquired to my engineer/friend that I wanted to cover some songs at his studio for fun after featuring on another artist record and getting great feedback! He told me no, and that he wasn’t recording me unless it was MY music. A week later I came back with an original song and the rest is history!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No. Not at all. Honestly, let me start this off by saying I’m covered in God’s favor and I’m nothing without him. In a year’s time, I’ve come so far with God, quality content and my tenacity. Period! In college, I was a part of an organization where I was able to sing and showcase my talents and I often felt overlooked honestly. That kind of retracted me from singing and so to see that I’m out here creating my own music now and that I have two songs consistently being on rotation on the radio, it’s amazing. I say that to say, the struggle initially was believing in myself FIRST. If no one else believed in me, I had to have my own back and really step out on faith. Some challenges currently are just trusting the process and being consistent. Consistency was hard at first because I was a senior in college when I first started, but now, it’s all gas and no brakes.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Singer/Songwriter born and raised from Jacksonville, FL. I specialize in making “Hurt Hoe” music and singing what I feel at all times. My music is raw, and emotion filled and really what I see from my perspective. I’m most known for my versatility and my explosive personality. My music style changes because I’m not a one-tracked person. Nobody will box me in. I literally can do any genre and often like to push myself to try new things. It constantly gives my fans a new version of myself… kinda like switching hairdos or wigs. I most proud that I’m really in the middle of my wildest dreams. What sets me apart from others is my ability to eat any track, any genre and give it the Ta’Shi special.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was when my five sisters and I went to the scream tour to see mindless behavior. My parents really pulled out all the stops for this! Custom outfits, autographed CDs, meet and greets and all. We were crying and chasing after the tour bus.
