Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Jones.
Tiana, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am one of the founders of Sisters In Power. I started Sisters In Power roughly two years ago after finding myself in a depressed state. I was going through so many challenges in my life that I thought it would be great to have a get together at my house to bring women together. We gathered at my house one evening with a few ladies where we drank wine and discussed things that we all were facing. After that night, I realized that we as women have a lot in common which made me start Sisters In Power. After that, we decided to take this show on the road. We have been touring for the past two years bringing empowerment events to women. Our panels have included celebrities that have been raw/uncut when sharing things that they have had to overcome. We want people to leave our events feeling empowered!
We’d love to hear more about your work. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am the President, and CEO of Sisters in Power, Inc. I began Sisters in Power to create the perfect atmosphere for women to inspire, motivate and support one another. We organize information-packed events, where guest speakers share their experiences and interact with and help so many women realize their potential to the fullest extent possible. Sisters in Power appeals to women from all walks of life to share in our events regardless of race, religion, gender preference, financial or professional status.
On tour in 2017 Sisters in Power toured eight (8) cities resulting in a huge success. Our previous panelists consisted of to name a few; David Banner, Meagan Good, Toya Wright, Elise Neal, Cynthia Bailey, and several other notable, successful professionals. Our topics of discussion ranged from business/entrepreneurship, financial literacy, relationships, overcoming adversity, and any and everything in between.
As we move through the year 2018 into 2019 and building on the momentum of 2017, we’re expanding our program to include more focused areas such as breast cancer, mental illness/depression, etc. We have also partnered with “Celebs Give Back,” a non-profit organization, to help reach the community of each city we visit on a deeper level. Our goal is to see women supporting one another, and we believe that you can help us with our goal.
Any advice for those looking to meet others with similar interests and goals?
I would say to go to different events within your community and network. You will find that the same struggles you have others face as well.
