Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Kinch-Reynolds.
Hi Andrea, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started modeling at the age of 13 and I went on to model for designers such as Sue Wong and Tina Knowles. I hold the title of Miss Black Georgia USA 2010. Modeling and pageantry helped me pay my way through college at Clark Atlanta University. My sophomore year in college, I was asked by a friend to train her for an upcoming fashion show. This is where my passion for training and helping others began. I had a successful career and I found myself giving others tips on how to break into the industry.
I remember telling my family that I would open my own model development agency one day. I networked with my industry connections and began traveling the country and training teachers and directors for modeling schools. While traveling, I met my now husband and moved from Georgia to Florida, opening Models in the Making aka MITM. Our corporate office is located in Brandon, Florida however, we represent models in the Southeast. Of course, Atlanta is our number one market. Our motto is every model is unique and deserves one on one development… this is why as the owner, I personally work with each model to get them signed. I only take on aspiring models who have true potential. As of today, every model who has completed MITM has been signed. I am very proud of that and I look forward to more success stories.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The struggle is real but so is God. As a business owner, everything falls on you. There is not a day that goes by that I do not work on ways to improve Models in the Making for my clients and employees. The pandemic came along and shut our industry down. While I was still able to do private sessions with my models on Zoom, I was worried about my models who completed MITM development and were out in the industry working. Their jobs stopped and for many of them, that was their main source of income. I reached out and told them we could use the downtime to brush up on any skills and learn new ones. This gave me the idea to reach out to my now acting coach, who was working in New York when everything shut down. I was able to offer him a position during a rough time. It was a win-win. He was able to share his extensive acting knowledge and coach our models who were looking to transition into acting.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Models In The Making is a development community for aspiring models. Our mission is to give aspiring models success in the fashion industry. MITM develops, promotes and guides our models throughout their career. We offer private development sessions with top industry professionals and coaches. As one of our models, you will receive one on one development and audition for our network of agents and casting directors MITM represents models in the Southeast.
What makes you happy?
I am happy when we have a MITM success story. That could be a model being signed, booking their first job or a young lady just gaining confidence from completing Models in the Making.
