Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Walker.
Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My entrepreneurial journey began after an unexpected turning point in my career. After spending eight years in corporate accounting, I was laid off. Like many professionals, I immediately began applying for new opportunities, submitting more than 300 applications. Despite my experience, interviews were few and far between. During that season, I realized I wasn’t simply searching for another job, I had the skills, passion, and experience to help other business owners build and strengthen theirs.
While searching for employment, I worked 10- to 12-hour shifts at Chick-fil-A to provide for my family. After every shift, I came home and continued building Walking With Wingo from the ground up. I designed and developed my own website, leaning on the computer science foundation I gained during my time at Bethune-Cookman University. Every late night reminded me that this business wasn’t just an idea, it was becoming my purpose.
As life continued to shift, so did my career. After leaving Chick-fil-A due to relocating, I returned to driving a school bus before eventually becoming an over-the-road contract driver. Those long hours behind the wheel and quiet train rides became some of the most meaningful moments of my journey. They gave me uninterrupted time to speak with The Most High, seek His direction, and gain a deeper understanding of the purpose He was placing on my life. During that time, I also learned one of the greatest lessons in business: not every client is meant to be your client, and I could no longer hold onto relationships simply to say I had one. I wanted every partnership to be built on trust, purpose, and genuine impact.
Even while traveling, I continued refining my skills. As I built my bookkeeping spreadsheets, I realized that organization wasn’t just about numbers, it was about creating systems. Organizing files, folders, workflows, and financial records became just as important as accurate bookkeeping, both for my clients and for myself. I wanted to help business owners spend less time searching for documents and more time growing their businesses.
As technology continued to evolve, I recognized that artificial intelligence was becoming an important part of the future of business. Instead of fearing it, I leaned back into my computer science background and taught myself how to make AI work alongside Walking With Wingo rather than compete against it. I embraced it as a tool to improve efficiency, creativity, and client support.
That journey also inspired me to learn social media content creation and management. I began by creating content for my own brand, studying what worked, improving my skills, and understanding how consistent online visibility helps businesses grow. As my confidence grew, I realized that social media management naturally belonged alongside business operations and financial organization. That’s when Walking With Wingo evolved into more than bookkeeping or administrative support, it became a complete business support solution.
Today, Walking With Wingo offers business operations support, financial organization, and social media content management, allowing business owners to find multiple essential services under one roof. My goal has always been to simplify the day-to-day responsibilities that often keep entrepreneurs from focusing on what they do best.
Looking back, I realize that every chapter of my journey prepared me for the next. Being laid off taught me resilience. Building my business while working long shifts taught me discipline. Driving across the country taught me patience, clarity, and faith. Learning new technology taught me that growth never stops. Most importantly, every challenge taught me to trust myself before asking others to trust me.
That trust became the foundation of Walking With Wingo. As I continue to show up for my clients and the businesses that need dependable support, I remain committed to helping them build stronger operations, healthier financial systems, and a greater online presence. Helping others create order from the everyday demands of business isn’t just what I do, it’s my purpose, and it’s the reason Walking With Wingo continues to grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape both me and my business.
After being laid off from my corporate accounting career, I applied for more than 300 jobs with very few interviews. During that waiting season, I faced one of the hardest moments of my life, my daughter had to move away while I was struggling financially. That experience tested my faith, my resilience, and my determination to keep moving forward.
While building Walking With Wingo, I worked long shifts at Chick-fil-A, returned to driving a school bus, and later became an over-the-road contract driver, all while continuing to grow my business during my personal time. Those experiences taught me discipline, perseverance, and the importance of trusting the process.
One of the biggest lessons I learned was that not every client is the right client. Building a successful business isn’t about having the most clients, it’s about building relationships based on trust, communication, and shared values.
As technology evolved, I chose to embrace AI instead of fearing it, learning how to use it to strengthen my services and create greater value for my clients.
Looking back, every obstacle has strengthened my faith, expanded my skills, and reinforced my purpose. Today, I see those challenges not as setbacks, but as preparation for the business and the woman that I’m continuing to build.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I truly believe that no one builds a business alone. My biggest cheerleaders have always been my family: my mom, dad, sister, aunts, uncles, and the people closest to me. Their encouragement, prayers, and belief in me have kept me going during both the victories and the difficult seasons.
I’m also incredibly grateful for my friends from Fort Pierce, Florida. Even though we don’t get to see or talk to each other often, they’ve continued to support my journey by sharing my content, celebrating my milestones, and cheering me on from afar. That kind of genuine encouragement has meant more than they probably realize.
I also have two close friends who have been trusted sounding boards throughout my entrepreneurial journey. Whether it was reviewing branding ideas, giving honest feedback on designs, or talking through business decisions late at night, they were always there to offer wisdom, encouragement, and honest advice.
Most importantly, I’m thankful for everyone who has supported Walking With Wingo by believing in me, encouraging me, and praying for me, not preying on me. Every person in my circle has played a meaningful role in helping me become the business owner I am today, and I don’t take that support for granted.
