Community Highlights: Meet Chisom Okonkwo of Riddim Lab Ent

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chisom Okonkwo.

Hi Chisom, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
CEO of riddim lab studios. My journey thus far, I would say has been nothing short of humbling. Graduating from high school going into college, I had dreams of becoming a professional basketball player but as faith will have it, I met a producer and eventually started managing him. We will go from hopping from studio to studio to making beats/music in my car, hotels or sometimes a friend’s place. It wasn’t always the easiest but faith and perseverance has gotten us thus far, four years later I took the initiative and introduced a business proposal to my older siblings and they collectively gave me the push start I needed. Today, I have one producer and two artists currently under my management and Riddim Lab is growing fast!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Starting off it was very hard especially because my Producer back then had to keep the reality of him wanting to pursue music production as a career away from his family because he was in school and they wanted him to go a different route so keeping that in mind and still being able to achieve things effectively was something we struggled with for a long time before we could finally convince them to give us a chance, though things are a bit easier now that we are more transparent, there is of course so much to prove so the work is just getting started.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Riddim lab is an international studio that provides quality sounds for all creatives regardless of what genre. We pride ourselves in being the first Nigerian owned studio in the metro Atlanta area. Known for bringing upcoming artists and getting their sounds out. We offer great services at a prime location with a flexible event space that can be used for several different occasions and we believe in treating each customer to the best of our abilities regardless of status. Though we are still upcoming and growing, we are no strangers to the afrobeats community in Atlanta. We have the hottest afrobeats producer in the city of Atlanta so that of course I would say speaks for itself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Though I’m not a big believer of luck, I do agree that success can be attributed to being lucky so good luck in that term has played a key role in my life and business because a lot of what’s transpired in my life between the past two years, outside of hard work and prayers, has been a result of my good luck.
