Today we’d like to introduce you to Gio Imani.
Hi Gio, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always struggled with my skin. I’ve dealt with eczema and extremely sensitive skin for as long as I can remember, and growing up, it felt like there was never any real or consistent help. By the time I was 13, I had already started researching ingredients, creating my own remedies, and searching for products that my skin could actually tolerate.
Around that same time, I fell in love with makeup through theatre in middle school and have been doing makeup ever since. I quickly realized that when you’re working closely with someone’s face, people naturally start talking about their skin. They weren’t just looking for someone to do their makeup. They were looking for answers.
That led me to esthetics. I earned my license, opened my own treatment suite, and dedicated myself to helping people finally understand their skin. Acne correction naturally became my specialty because I saw how many people were exhausted from trying product after product without seeing real results.
Just two years after opening my business, we were voted the #1 skin clinic in Buford. Growing my business here has definitely had its challenges, but every obstacle has made me more determined to build something that truly serves this community. I’m excited to announce that Epidermis Esthetics Lab will soon be moving into a brand-new location, and I can’t wait to continue helping even more people feel confident in their skin.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been my age. My clients have never been the issue. Once they sit down for their skin analysis, they quickly realize they can trust me because they see the level of education, detail, and care that goes into every recommendation. The challenge has been earning that same confidence from people outside the treatment room.
Whether it’s landlords, investors, or other business owners, I’ve often had to work twice as hard to prove myself simply because I’m young. Instead of letting that discourage me, I’ve let my work speak for itself.
I’ve built Epidermis Esthetics Lab from the ground up. There hasn’t been a marketing agency, a management team, or a large staff behind the scenes. It’s been me and my loyal clients who believed in my vision from the very beginning.
Thankfully, that’s starting to change. As we move into our new location, I’m excited to build a team that shares my passion for skin health. My goal has always been simple. I want the freedom to focus on what I do best, helping people achieve healthy skin without the stress of trying to do everything on my own.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Epidermis Esthetics Lab is an advanced skincare clinic and retail store specializing in corrective skin treatments and results-driven skincare. The clinic focuses on in-depth skin analysis and customized treatment plans designed to address concerns such as acne, congestion, and post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Alongside professional treatments, the storefront offers curated skincare products selected to support each client’s skin journey at home. Every recommendation is guided by analysis, not trends, ensuring clients are using products that match their skin’s actual needs.
The goal of Epidermis Esthetics Lab is to bridge clinical treatment with everyday skincare, creating a structured path to healthier skin through education, consistency, and personalized care. Known for its clinical approach and detailed assessments, the clinic has become a trusted destination for skin correction in Georgia.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I always loved Christmas Eve with my family. We have so many traditions that we still try to hold onto to this day.
We love to bake, so each year we make the staples(sugar cookies, sweet potato pie, pound cake) and then we will find a few new fun recipes to try.
My mom always makes a soup the night of Christmas Eve, and it’s always good. Some of my favorites are potato soup, cauliflower soup, and chicken and gnocchi, yum!
We finish the night by opening one small gift from under the tree.
