Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenia Serrano.
Hi Kenia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story is still being written, but if there is one thing I have learned, it is that every stage of life serves a purpose, and we should never underestimate the power of continuing forward, even during the most difficult moments.
I have always had a growth mindset. From a young age, I understood that I wanted to build a life that offered both time freedom and financial freedom, but also purpose. I genuinely enjoy studying, learning continuously, and working within my community. Because of that, I spent years building meaningful relationships and a strong network of connections, which later became one of the most important foundations of my professional growth.
In Venezuela, during the weekends, I used to wear wigs as part of entrepreneurial projects I created; meanwhile, during the week, I worked in an office building the company I had established to pursue the professional career I had studied in my home country. Truly, my creativity and my desire to grow and accomplish everything I aspire to achieve are stronger than any fear. Within that determination, there is no room for embarrassment, and there is no such thing as impossible.
When I arrived in this country 10 years ago, I began a new adventure filled with experiences, learning, sacrifice, and personal growth. It involved adapting to a new language, a new culture, and a completely new way of life. Throughout the years, I have worked in various fields, and today I feel proud of every one of those experiences, because I firmly believe they were all essential in shaping the woman and entrepreneur I am today. Every job, every challenge, and every stage of my life taught me something valuable and prepared me for what would come next.
There were moments when I worked 15 consecutive days on my feet without taking a single day off. Looking back now, I realize those experiences were not setbacks ,they were shaping my character, strengthening my discipline, awakening my ambition, and building the mindset that would later allow me to grow as an entrepreneur.
Every stage of my journey taught me something valuable: humility, resilience, perseverance, and the understanding that no honest work is ever small when it is helping you build your future. Today, I carry those lessons with pride because they remind me that success is not built overnight, it is built through sacrifice, consistency, courage, and the willingness to keep moving forward even when life feels uncertain.
When I finally decided to fully focus my energy and commitment on real estate, many people told me it looked like everything was happening “quickly” or “easily.” But the truth is that the results I see today were not created by real estate alone. They are the result of every experience I had in my home country and every experience I lived through after arriving in the United States. I firmly believe success is not built through one business, one opportunity, or one tool alone. Real success is the accumulation of everything we do, learn, and overcome throughout our lives until we finally reach a point where we become focused, stable, and able to build something meaningful and lasting.
There was one defining moment that completely changed my mindset: becoming a mother. Having a daughter in this country, far away from family support, awakened an entirely different level of discipline, determination, and focus within me. I chose to fully embrace motherhood and educate myself throughout the process. From preparing for a natural birth, exercising during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and truly understanding the physical and emotional responsibility that comes with becoming a mother, the experience transformed me completely.
Motherhood taught me that if a woman is capable of carrying, nurturing, and raising a child, then she is capable of far more than she often gives herself credit for. Becoming a mother is not a temporary responsibility — it is a lifelong commitment. After going through that experience, many other areas of life begin to feel more manageable because motherhood demands strength, consistency, patience, sacrifice, and love every single day.
I truly believe that many mothers underestimate themselves. When a mother feels exhausted, discouraged, or ready to give up, I want her to remember that simply being a mother is already one of the greatest responsibilities a person can carry. It is bigger than any title, any career, or any business achievement. The daily work of motherhood already proves strength, resilience, and capability beyond words. No mother should ever tell herself otherwise.
Today, I understand that growing a successful business requires much more than talent or a good idea. You must truly know yourself, understand what you want, visualize your future, and remain focused even when things do not go as planned. Experience, life lessons, continuous learning, and above all, perseverance, are the true foundations of building and sustaining a successful business.
In this country, I created “Información es Poder,” an annual educational event designed for families and individuals interested in buying, selling, and investing in real estate. Through this platform, my mission is to educate and empower the Hispanic community with the knowledge and strategies necessary to build long-term wealth through real estate.
Today, I have the privilege of helping Hispanic families accomplish one of the biggest goals of their lives: purchasing a property in the United States. I do it with strategy, not emotion — helping families understand the numbers, the long-term vision, and the importance of making smart and profitable decisions from the very beginning. I firmly believe that the first property is often the key that opens the door to future investments and financial growth.
I continue investing heavily in my own education by attending seminars, workshops, courses, and training programs led by some of the most respected professionals in the industry. My goal is not only to grow personally and professionally, but also to bring that knowledge back to my community so others can benefit from it as well.
Every month, I host two free educational webinars focused on real estate, including buying, selling, investing, financial preparation, and long-term wealth strategies. I also teach families how to position themselves to pay off their homes faster, continue investing, and create generational stability for their future.
I truly believe opportunities belong to those who are willing to search for them, prepare for them, and refuse to give up.
The opportunities are there for those who seek them and never surrender.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the greatest challenges of my life has been learning how to grow while living with fear, allowing myself to feel pain, accepting distance, and carrying the responsibility of the difficult decisions I have had to make. I deeply believe that challenges do not come to destroy us, but to build character, strengthen self-discipline, and prepare us for something greater.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was living for more than four and a half years without seeing my mother or my sister, trying over and over again to find different ways to bring them here with me, without success at first. Many doors closed along the way, but perseverance, persistence, and faith eventually allowed me to reunite my family. Today, having my mother and my sister — who is autistic — here with me in this country represents one of the greatest victories of my life.
It has also been challenging to watch my mother, as an older adult, adapt to a new country, a different language, a completely different culture, and even new work responsibilities. However, seeing her continue moving forward gives me strength and peace of mind, because if she has been able to do it with courage, it reminds me that we are all capable of adapting and growing, even during the most difficult seasons of life.
As the older sister, I have also carried a deep emotional responsibility while helping my sister through this process of adaptation. Watching her face language barriers and the challenges of adjusting to a new culture has taught me patience, empathy, love, and a deeper sense of family commitment.
The deepest challenge has truly been living far away from my family. Emigrating does not only mean changing countries; it also means accepting that there will be hugs you may never give again, important moments you will experience from a distance through the screen of a cellphone, and goodbyes that may never happen in person because of immigration limitations that often do not allow people to leave and re-enter the country as easily as they would like.
During the last four years, I lived with the constant fear that the last grandmother I had left alive could pass away at any moment and that I might never have the opportunity to see her again if I ever returned to my country. And that happened in September 2025. After almost ten years without seeing her, accepting that she will no longer be there to hug me again has been one of the deepest pains I have ever experienced, although deep inside, it was a possibility I had been living with for years. I knew it could happen.
Experiences like that teach you that important decisions also carry deep emotional consequences. When I made the decision to leave Venezuela in search of opportunities and a better future, I also silently accepted the possibility of missing moments, losing people, and not having the chance to say certain goodbyes. Learning how to live with that emotional weight has also been part of my growth and personal strength.
Professionally, I also had to completely reinvent myself. Arriving in a new country often means starting from zero, even when you already come with education, experience, and a professional identity built in your home country. Adapting to a new language, a new culture, and a completely different way of life was not easy. There were moments when I worked extremely long hours, even up to 15 consecutive days on my feet without taking a single day off, doing whatever was necessary to move forward honestly and build a better future.
Motherhood has also been one of my greatest challenges and, at the same time, one of my greatest sources of strength. Becoming a mother far away from my family completely transformed my mindset. It taught me discipline, responsibility, emotional strength, and a level of resilience I did not know I possessed. My daughter is growing up far away from her grandfather, her aunts, and the family environment I grew up with, and I have also had to learn how to balance my professional life while often working from home alongside her, understanding that childcare culture here is very different from the one I knew in my home country.
However, every one of those challenges has shaped me. Every sacrifice has built my character. Every difficult moment has taught me to value life, family, opportunities, and the importance of continuing forward even when the path is not easy. Today, I understand that my story is not simply a story of obstacles, but a story of perseverance, growth, faith, and purpose.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a licensed Realtor in the states of Georgia and Florida, currently working under the brokerage [American Realty Group](https://americarealtyhomes.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com). My professional approach is built on education, strategy, and personalized guidance for every family or investor who places their trust in me.
My business was born from the belief that purchasing a property should not be viewed solely as an emotional decision, but rather as a smart financial strategy. My mission is to educate, guide, and support each client so they can make decisions with clarity, knowledge, and a vision for their short-, medium-, and long-term future.
What truly differentiates my brand and services is the personalized strategy I create for every Hispanic family or individual who wants to buy, sell, or invest in real estate. I carefully study each case individually, understanding their financial situation, present needs, and the future they want to build. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all processes or treating people like numbers; I believe in creating specific and realistic plans that help each client move forward safely and strategically.
One of the main areas I specialize in — and one of the services I am most passionate about — is helping first-time homebuyers. I strongly believe that the first home you purchase in this country can become the key to building long-term wealth through real estate. That first purchase can open the door to future investments, profitable sales, strong equity growth, and long-term financial stability.
Knowing how to buy the right first property is everything. A smart first purchase can completely change the financial future of a family, and helping clients make that decision strategically is one of the things that makes me stand out most within the real estate industry. It is one of my favorite parts of my career because I truly enjoy helping families understand that a home is not only a place to live, but also a powerful financial asset that can create future opportunities and generational wealth.
Another defining aspect of my work is the level of education and preparation I provide throughout the entire process. I am deeply committed to continuous learning because I believe that the more knowledge I gain, the more value I can provide to my clients and community. My goal is not simply to achieve a successful purchase or sale, but to ensure that every client fully understands the transaction they are making.
I want my clients to understand not only the benefits, but also the fine print that many people never explain — the pros, the cons, the advantages, the risks, and the true financial impact behind every real estate decision. To me, representing a family in a real estate transaction is a major responsibility and a genuine commitment to their financial stability and future growth.
One of the greatest strengths I bring to my real estate career is my professional background as a Certified Public Accountant in Venezuela. Because of that foundation, I am able to easily understand financial structures, loan programs, investment strategies, and the important relationship taxes have within the mortgage process. This knowledge allows me to communicate strategically with lenders and financial professionals, but more importantly, it allows me to explain complex financial concepts to my clients in a clear and understandable way.
That combination of real estate experience, financial education, and strategic vision allows me to help people not only purchase a property, but also understand how to use real estate as a tool to build wealth, stability, and future opportunities.
I am also very proud to have created “Información es Poder” (“Information is Power”), an educational platform focused on the Hispanic community, where we organize workshops, courses, and educational events about real estate, credit, finances, and investing. Through this project, I have been able to combine two of my greatest passions: educating and serving my community.
More than a real estate brand, I want people to see my business as a source of guidance, trust, and growth. My purpose is for every client to leave a transaction not only with a successful purchase or sale, but also with greater knowledge, stronger preparation, and a much clearer financial vision for their future.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I believe the strongest foundations behind my growth have been my faith, my family, and the people who have influenced my journey both personally and professionally.
First and above all, God has always been the center of my life. I have unshakable faith, and placing everything in God’s hands gives me peace, strength, and clarity through every stage of my journey.
My family, especially my mother, deserves the greatest recognition in my life. I come from a family of hardworking, educated, and disciplined people who taught me through actions that greatness is built through effort, preparation, and meritocracy. They showed me that what is earned through sacrifice and perseverance carries far more value than what comes easily.
My husband has also been a key piece in my journey. Every time I make an important decision, he is there encouraging me to trust myself and move forward. Having that support has allowed me to feel strong and accompanied during the most challenging moments.
Professionally, my real estate broker taught me the importance of understanding my value and recognizing that the extra effort, strategy, and dedication I provide to every client should also be reflected professionally and financially. At the same time, the professor who prepared me for my real estate licensing helped shape my strong foundation in ethics, professionalism, and responsibility toward my clients.
Lastly, the families who trust me continue to inspire me every day. Watching mothers and fathers sacrifice, work hard, and refuse to give up on the dream of homeownership motivates me to continue pushing forward alongside them. Every client leaves me with a lesson, a purpose, and a reminder that while they are trusting me to guide them, they are also inspiring me to never stop believing in the impact of the work I do.
