Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Smith-Pierre.
Kimberly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My dream of becoming a Matchmaker started senior year of completing my bachelor’s degree. I was in an undergrad course when a Professor asked the class, “what was our intention career within Psychology.” 75% of the class stated School counselors, 20% therapists, and the other 5% were into forensic psychology of some sort. I sat back in my chair, amused, very well baffled how everybody wanted to trail in the same career path. I instantly had the notion that I didn’t want to be in competition with majority psych majors.
So I began to google positive Psychology and already having prior knowledge about Matchmaking, I began to research love, positivity, psychological testing and came across this Institute based in NYC called The Matchmaker Institute. I recall getting so anxious and eager at the thought of becoming a Psychological Matchmaker. Finally a school that derives in love, with the passion of matching individuals who may never otherwise meet. I knew I had found my niche, and from there, I began to study more about Matchmaking and how I could get accepted into this Institute. It was the beginning of something Extraordinary!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Whew! It has not been easy, first let’s start off at the fact that The Matchmaker Institute does not take student loans of any sort. The Matchmaking Certification program starts off at five thousand dollars. It was extremely hard trying to save up the money so that I could enroll. Which put a gap in my time line because I needed time to come up with $5,000.00. That’s when I came up with the conclusion that as I stack up and save, I could use the time to start Graduate school. Typical grad school ranges from 18 months – 2 years to complete. I gave myself the challenge that as I gain my Masters, I’ll also use this time to save! This gave me the opportunity to further my education and become a Master of Psychology. Although you don’t need a Masters degree to become a Matchmaker, this was my way of securing my field of concentration and strengthening my education background.
I said all that to say, it took me about 18 months to finally come up with the money in its entirety to pay my way through the Matchmaking Institute. With the help of my family and support system.

These services also stretch down to Panama City, FL area as well.

I define success as a gradual growth latter that has been accomplished over time. Something people put time, passion, and grind into to make happen.
