Today we’d like to introduce you to Mason Koski.
Hi Mason, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been independent and ambitious by nature. During a stint in the corporate world, I realized that environment wasn’t feeding those traits, and I knew it was time to take a risk on myself. Real estate felt like the natural answer as I grew up in an entrepreneurial and real estate family.
Having lived in intown Atlanta nearly my entire life, I know these neighborhoods and streets like the back of my hand. Hyperlocal knowledge is everything as a realtor. I loved that real estate offered a path where I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel, but I could still build a business from scratch with unlimited capacity for growth. However, the biggest draw was that I could help people in such a monumental way by guiding them through the home-buying and selling process.
As every new business owner does, I began attending networking events. I was shocked to find they were often corporate, sterile, boring, and difficult to actually connect with people. I saw a gap for networking that felt authentic and fun, so I decided to host my own fun networking event at a local bar in Virginia Highland. My entrepreneurial love for event hosting and bringing people together came to fruition.
I wanted to create a space where rising professionals actually wanted to network. Fun venues, DJs, value-adding experiences like headshots and panels. The idea quickly evolved into VAMO Rising Professionals. The name is rooted in the Virginia Highland – Morningside neighborhood where so many of us live and play, but the VAMO community has come to stand for much more. As the community took off, my real estate business followed suit. I learned that when I focus on building community, without expecting anything in return, the business side of things takes care of itself.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest hurdle to building my real estate business hasn’t been the logistics, it’s the internal discipline of constantly maintaining a positive mindset. When you’re the face of your brand, your energy is your most valuable currency. In real estate, you are constantly absorbing the stress of your clients, navigating market shifts, and managing high-stakes emotions. It’s easy to be positive when a house closes, but it’s also easy to let self-doubt creep in when negotiations are difficult, business is slower, or motivation is lacking.
I’ve realized that believing in my success before it happens is where the real magic lies. Thoughts create perception, and perception creates reality. If I let negative thoughts infiltrate my mind, negative energy follows. I have to consciously protect my mindset and remind myself that I am the architect of my reality.
I strive to wake up every day with a level of optimism and action that feels almost delusional. It’s a constant practice of choosing to see opportunity where others see obstacles and understanding that I’m in control of my thoughts.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mason Koski Real Estate & VAMO Rising Professionals?
As an Atlanta realtor who works across the metro Atlanta area, I help people open or close chapters in a positive way. This includes first-time homebuyers achieving their goals, growing families upsizing, families moving on from homes that hold years of memories, or individuals wanting to grow their real estate portfolios. I pride myself on showing people who have a dream of homeownership that it is actually possible. For me, it is not about my statistics, but the impact I’ve made and the relationships I’ve built with my clients.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just know the streets of Atlanta, I actually know the people who live on them. Because I am deeply involved in the community, I have a pulse on the city that goes way beyond a standard property search. When a client works with me, they aren’t just getting a realtor. They are getting a connector who can plug them into the social and professional fabric of their new neighborhood.
Real estate isn’t a transaction business; it’s a relationship business. This realization led me to find my passion project: VAMO Rising Professionals. I saw a gap in Atlanta for networking that felt fun and authentic rather than sterile and corporate. I wanted to create a space where rising professionals actually wanted to be, featuring things like rooftop DJs, professional headshots, and panels. VAMO stands for Virginia Highland – Morningside, the neighborhoods where I got my start, but the brand has grown into something much bigger.
I’m very proud of the trust I’ve built. From helping a first-time buyer navigate a difficult inspection to hosting a hundred people at a VAMO event. My business is about helping you plant roots and find your community in this amazing city we get to call home.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is that if you feel unhappy, unfulfilled, or have the urge for a change, you should take the risk on yourself. It is absolutely easier said than done, but it is worth it 100% of the time. The growth that comes from pushing past the anxiety and hesitations of risk is hard to explain until you actually undergo it. At the beginning of starting something new, I have found that delusional self-belief is the best way to keep going and attract success.
I would tell my early Realtor self that it all works out better than I ever imagined. When I was in the early stages, I spent so much time worrying about the what-ifs. Creating a routine of habits that build a positive mindset is so much more important than any social media promotion or marketing material. The rest will come, but the first step to success is believing in your success before it happens.
