Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Moore.
Hi Natalie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into adventure elopement photography started with my own love for the outdoors long before it became a business. I chose to move to Colorado because I wanted to be close to the mountains. Having snowboarding within driving distance while I was in college felt like a dream, and that decision shaped everything that followed.
I began photographing couples because I was drawn to connection and storytelling. Over time, I realized that the traditional wedding space did not fully align with who I was or how I experienced the world. I felt most alive hiking, exploring, and being in wild places. When I discovered elopements in the mountains, it felt like everything clicked into place. I could combine storytelling, adventure, and intentional experiences all in one.
As I photographed more couples outdoors, I saw how powerful it was when people stripped away expectations and built a wedding day around what truly mattered to them. I leaned fully into adventure elopements, especially in the San Juan Mountains, and began building a business centered on planning support, education, and experience design rather than just showing up with a camera.
Along the way, I invested heavily in wilderness education and safety, earning my Wilderness First Responder certification so I could responsibly guide couples into high altitude and remote terrain. That commitment to preparation, paired with a deep love for the mountains, has shaped the foundation of my brand.
Today, I photograph intentional, experience driven elopements across Colorado for couples who value presence over performance. What started as a love for the outdoors and storytelling has grown into a business that feels fully aligned with how I live my own life. And that alignment is something I am incredibly proud of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a perfectly smooth road, and I actually think that is part of what shaped my business into what it is today.
In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was finding my place in the wedding industry. I started in more traditional spaces and quickly realized it did not fully align with who I was or how I wanted to create. Pivoting into adventure elopements meant narrowing my niche, refining my messaging, and trusting that the right couples would find me. That transition required a lot of clarity and confidence.
There were also practical challenges. Building a business in the mountains means working with unpredictable weather, high altitude conditions, permits, and logistics that are far more complex than a standard venue wedding. I had to invest in education, safety training, and systems that would allow me to responsibly guide couples in remote environments. Earning my Wilderness First Responder certification was part of that commitment. It added credibility, but it also required time, energy, and growth.
Like many entrepreneurs, I have also navigated the mental side of business ownership. Comparison, slow seasons, pricing yourself sustainably, and learning how to communicate value are all real hurdles. There is a learning curve in realizing that what you offer is not just a service, but an experience that requires leadership and expertise.
Looking back, I am grateful it was not perfectly smooth. The challenges forced me to become more intentional about my brand, my boundaries, and the type of work I want to create. They pushed me to build something aligned instead of something trendy. And that alignment is what allows me to show up confidently for my couples today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an adventure based elopement and lifestyle photographer rooted in the mountains of Colorado, especially the wild and rugged beauty of the San Juan Mountains. My work centers around helping laid back, nature loving couples create intentional, experience first wedding days that truly feel like them.
I specialize in Colorado adventure elopements, from high alpine hikes at sunrise to multi day celebrations tucked deep in the mountains. What I do goes far beyond photography. I help couples design meaningful, immersive experiences in nature. I guide them through location scouting, building timelines around light and weather, navigating marriage license logistics, practicing Leave No Trace principles, and feeling grounded and present on a day that can otherwise feel overwhelming.
What sets me apart is that I do not approach elopements as small weddings. I approach them as intentional adventures. I am not just showing up with a camera. I am helping create an experience from start to finish. My couples are the kind of people who value memories over material things. They would rather summit a peak together, snowshoe into a frozen alpine lake, or read private vows at 12,000 feet than spend months planning a ballroom reception. I understand that mindset because I live it myself.
Brand wise, I am most proud that my business feels deeply aligned with who I am outside of work. I hike year round. I snowboard. I prioritize wilderness education and safety. I am Wilderness First Responder certified, which matters when guiding couples into remote, high altitude terrain. My brand is not built on trends. It is built on experience, preparedness, and a genuine love for the mountains.
I am also proud of the level of planning support I provide. Many couples come to me unsure of where to begin. They just know they want something different. I provide customized location ideas, season specific guidance, packing support, timeline creation, and honest insight about what it actually feels like to elope in Colorado’s unpredictable weather and altitude. I believe education builds trust, and trust allows couples to fully relax and be present in front of the camera.
At the heart of it all, my brand is about helping people slow down and remember what they are truly celebrating. It is about documenting connection in places that make you feel small in the best way. It is about building a wedding day around meaning instead of expectation.
If readers take one thing away, I hope it is this. You do not have to follow a template. You can build a wedding day and a life around what feels like adventure to you.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is through my Colorado adventure elopement photography packages. I photograph intimate, experience driven elopements throughout the San Juan Mountains and across Colorado. Couples can inquire directly through my website, and from there we begin a collaborative planning process that is highly personalized and rooted in intention. I take on a limited number of elopements each year so that every couple receives thoughtful guidance, location support, and a fully immersive experience.
For brands and small businesses, I offer content creation and storytelling partnerships. I work with Airbnbs, vacation rentals, outdoor brands, and adventure focused companies who align with my values of experience, sustainability, and connection to nature. These collaborations typically include high quality imagery, short form video content, and strategic visual storytelling designed to feel organic and true to the brand’s identity.
I am especially interested in partnering with mountain based venues, outdoor gear companies, tourism boards, and experience driven small businesses that serve couples who love adventure. I value long term relationships over one time campaigns and I believe adventure bonds are the best bonds.
For photographers and creatives, I also share educational resources and planning tools designed to elevate the elopement experience for their own clients. Supporting my work can be as simple as sharing my content, referring couples who are dreaming of an intentional Colorado elopement, or collaborating on creative projects that celebrate wild, meaningful love stories.
At the core of it all, I care about working with people who believe that experiences matter more than expectations. If that resonates, I would love to connect.
