Community Highlights: Meet Rachel Provencal of Rachel June Interiors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Provencal

Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in love with everything about homes since I was young. I loved going to open houses with my mom; I loved going to furniture stores and imagining all the pieces I would put in my home one day…I had no idea that it would ever be a career of mine. I actually started college working in entertainment production and soon realized that was not my true passion. I ended up taking a year off from school and naturally fell into Interior Design. I then went to school for design and it was the best time of my life! I enjoyed going to school and most of the time, it didn’t even feel like school! I distinctly remember my first internship was with a Home Staging Company and I was just enthralled by it. I loved everything about it! For the last 6 years, I have always known that I was going to eventually have my own staging company. I knew it with everything in me. Along those years I had worked in various design jobs that I enjoyed but never quite felt right for me. The end of 2023, I kept asking myself “Why are you waiting?” Why was I waiting to start something that I KNEW I wanted to do. And I could never give myself a valid answer. So at the beginning of this year, I quit my job and decided to start staging on my own. My boyfriend stepped up and helped me along every step of the way. It started off with a couple houses here and there kind of filling in with accessories and artwork and a lot of smaller items. Then very quickly it turned into vacant stagings and bringing in every single piece of furniture and accessories…and from there, I haven’t stopped! I kept on going and put my all into this company and haven’t looked back since! All my work that I was getting had been from referrals which was incredible and I have made such great relationships with the agents that I stage for. Now, 6 months later, I have staged over 40 homes and have grown and expanded my inventory all while continuing to grow this business into a very successful staging company!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just as I had always heard growing up, starting a business is NOT easy. There have been lots of struggles and bumps along the way but they have made me and my company stronger and better than before! This company has grown very quickly which is something I was not expecting when I started. I had anticipated to grow and expand but not at the rate that I have been. One of my biggest struggles has been time management and spreading myself too thin. When I started, I wanted to say yes to every single job that came my way – no matter what, I wanted to get jobs with these incredible agents. What I didn’t realize at the time was the amount of work that went into these jobs before the actual staging day. All the prepping, shopping, packing, putting together furniture, loading up the car… there was so much work to do before the actual work that I was not factoring into my schedule. So it was a lot of super late nights and early mornings to get everything done so I could get these jobs executed well. I became burnt out pretty quickly and had to reevaluate how to schedule my weeks to make them more efficient and give myself enough time to not only execute these jobs but to execute them with the upmost attention and detail I can.
