Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Seals.
Hi Rachel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi!!!
I’m Dr. Rachel and I am the owner and founder of Movela. I am a physical therapist and I love all things mobility and wellness. I am SO passionate about helping people live a life they enjoy.
Mobility isn’t just about walking or transfers, it’s about identity, autonomy, dignity, and hope. Losing movement can feel like losing a future someone thought they understood.
Which is why I created Movela! I specialize in working with people with neurologic diagnoses and aging adults.
After graduating with my doctorate in physical therapy I went straight into residency training to specialize in neurologic physical therapy. I then continued to work in the hospital setting at Emory while also seeing patients under my own physical therapy practice on the side. Movela has continued to expand and I feel so lucky to be have continued to trust me with their rehabilitation and wellness needs. Working with people towards better movement is not something I take lightly!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t know if starting a business can ever be described as a smooth road. Overall starting and growing Movela has been challenging but rewarding! I don’t have any background or experience in business or marketing so learning these things as I go has definitely kept me on my toes. I have so many people around me who are supportive and have helped me problem solve through things I never could have figured out on my own.
The biggest struggle for me was (and I have a feeling always will be) balancing how much time I pour into Movela versus the rest of my life. Movela and the patients we care for at Movela are so important to me, and often times I find myself falling short as a friend, daughter, sister, partner, etc and have to remind myself to cherish these important roles too.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Movela is a concierge physical therapy and wellness company built around one simple idea: your care should fit your life—not the other way around. We bring high-quality, one-on-one care directly into our clients’ homes, removing the barriers of commuting, busy clinics, and rushed appointments so people can focus fully on their health and recovery.
We specialize in neurologic physical therapy and working with aging adults experiencing changes in mobility, balance, or independence. This includes conditions like stroke, Parkinson’s disease, vestibular disorders, and other complex movement challenges. Our approach is deeply individualized, evidence-based, and centered on helping people move better, feel more confident, and maintain their independence.
What truly sets Movela apart is the level of care and attention each client receives. Every session is a full, uninterrupted one-on-one visit—no overlapping patients, no handoffs, and no time cut short. By working in the home environment, we’re also able to address real-life challenges in real time, from fall risks to functional mobility in daily routines, which often leads to more meaningful and lasting outcomes.
Beyond physical therapy, we also offer wellness coaching focused on sustainable, movement-based habits. Our goal isn’t just short-term recovery—it’s long-term quality of life. We believe mobility is foundational to living fully, and we design every plan of care around helping our clients continue doing the things that matter most to them.
At its core, Movela is about helping people write their next chapter—one where they feel stronger, more capable, and more in control of their lives. That commitment to personalized, relationship-driven care is what we’re most proud of as a brand.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in a small town called Wilmore, Kentucky and spent most of my time here playing soccer! I played club soccer and then went on to play in college. This shaped so much of my personality. I think the discipline soccer taught me has allowed me to persevere through setbacks and stay consistent even when things might not be going perfectly to plan.
I also grew up knowing I wanted to pursue a people-centered profession. I’ve always had a heart for making those around me feel seen and valued—so much so that my senior superlative was “Most Likely to Brighten Your Day.” 😊
