Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Early in my career, there was a struggle professionally of not being in the right position. My plans were to go into investment management, but I graduated in 2008. During that time, banks were not hiring during the great recession, and I had to settle on being an internal auditor. While I could not appreciate it at the time, I now understand how invaluable that training was for me.

During the recession years, there were regular mass layoffs, which prevented me from just focusing on my job. I always felt I had to focus more on my employability vs. excelling in my current role.

My biggest challenge was achieving my CFA designation. This multi-year process pushed me beyond my capabilities.

My most recent challenge is transitioning from a corporate employee into a business owner who has to learn how to sell. Selling an intangible product like financial planning took time to learn and master.

As you know, we’re big fans of Deasil Wealth Management. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Deasil Wealth Management is a financial planning firm located in Decatur, Georgia. We help pre-retirees, self-employed individuals, and practice owners leverage their wealth and their business to live the financial life they always wanted.

Our firm specializes in making sure you have enough money saved before you retire, reducing your tax burden, and wealth-building strategies for practice owners or self-employed individuals.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like most about Atlanta is the breadth and depth of industries that call our city home. We can have the most advanced fin-tech company while at the same time having a booming restaurant industry. It is hard to find that in other cities.

The worst part by far is the traffic. If you leave at the wrong time it can take one hour to drive ten minutes down the street.
