Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Still-Johnson.
Hi Stephanie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My career started in real estate more than twenty years ago, but interestingly enough, even while actively working as an agent on a real estate team, I found myself naturally gravitating toward the behind the scenes side of the business. While I enjoyed working with clients, I became increasingly interested in helping the team operate more efficiently, improving systems, solving operational problems, and handling the many moving pieces that most people never see but that ultimately determine whether a business runs smoothly or struggles.
Early in my career, I was also fortunate to help establish our local Board of Realtors, which gave me an even deeper understanding of leadership, industry standards, and the importance of building strong professional communities. Looking back now, I can see that those experiences were quietly laying the foundation for what would eventually become my business.
The turning point came during the real estate market crash between 2008 and 2010. Like many agents at the time, business had slowed dramatically and I was simply trying to figure out how to continue paying my mortgage and supporting my family. Because I had always been strong on the administrative and operational side of real estate, I began offering to help other agents with tasks like marketing, transaction management, paperwork, and the many behind the scenes responsibilities that often consumed their time.
What started as a way to generate extra income quickly sparked something much bigger. At the time, virtual assistance and transaction coordination services were not nearly as common as they are today. In my area, there was virtually no one offering those types of services, and I quickly realized there was a major need that very few people had recognized yet.
In 2010, I officially launched SVA (Still Virtual Assistance) Services. At the time, I never imagined it would grow into what it has become today. I honestly thought I had simply created a way to help a few agents while earning additional income for my own family. Instead, demand grew faster than I ever expected, and over the years what started as just me working alone has evolved into a multi department company with a growing team serving business owners nationwide.
Along the way, I continued expanding my own knowledge and experience, becoming an Associate Broker and later serving as a compliance broker for multiple brokerages. I also became a certified paralegal, which strengthened the way I approach business through risk management, legal awareness, and building systems designed to protect both business owners and the clients they serve.
At the same time, life has taught me that success is never just about business. My husband and I are raising two of our grandchildren, both with special needs, and that experience completely changed the way I view leadership, priorities, and what truly matters. It taught me that building a successful business means very little if you are not also building a life that creates stability for the people who depend on you.
That season of life also led me to pursue some of my other passions. I became a published author through my faith based business, where I write and create resources centered around peace, purpose, and navigating life’s chaos while staying grounded in faith. (Calming the Noise Again, Calming the Noise: Autism and Calming the Noise: Trauma on Amazon)
When I look back at my journey, I do not think it has ever really been about chasing success. It has been about building systems that help people, creating stability where there is often chaos, leading with integrity, and proving that women can build meaningful businesses while still prioritizing family, faith, and the people they love most.
Today I wear many hats, business owner, broker, paralegal, published Christian author, wife, mom, and Gigi, but every chapter has shaped both the leader and the woman I have become.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. I think sometimes people look at a successful business after many years and assume the road was somehow smooth, but the reality is quite the opposite.
Like most entrepreneurs, I have experienced my fair share of failures, disappointments, and seasons where things simply did not go according to plan. There have been business decisions that I later realized were the wrong ones, clients that did not work out despite my best efforts, staff I invested heavily in who ultimately were not the right fit, and moments where I had to accept that not every opportunity is the right opportunity no matter how promising it looks on paper.
One of the hardest lessons I have learned over the years is that growth does not happen without discomfort. Building a business requires making difficult decisions, having uncomfortable conversations, and sometimes accepting that even when your intentions are good, not every person will appreciate the effort you put in behind the scenes.
I have also learned that leadership can feel incredibly lonely. When you are the person responsible for keeping everything moving, protecting your team, solving problems, and carrying the weight of major decisions, there are often very few people who truly understand what that responsibility feels like.
I have had seasons where I questioned myself, seasons where I had to rebuild after disappointment, and seasons where I had to completely change direction when something I thought would work simply did not.
Looking back, many of those setbacks became my greatest teachers. They taught me discipline, helped me become more intentional about who I trust, and reminded me that protecting my peace is just as important as protecting the businesses I have worked so hard to build.
At this point, I no longer view setbacks as failure. I see them as part of the process that taught me how to lead with wisdom instead of simply ambition.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SVA Services ?
SVA Services was built with one very simple philosophy: most business owners are incredibly talented at what they do, but many struggle with the operational side of running a business effectively, and those behind the scenes gaps often create unnecessary stress, inefficiency, and lost opportunities for growth.
Our motto has always reflected exactly what we help our clients accomplish: Don’t Stand STILL. MOVE Your Business to the NEXT LEVEL.
We specialize in helping business owners, particularly within the real estate industry, create the structure necessary to operate more efficiently through transaction coordination, listing management, compliance oversight, administrative support, marketing support, and operational systems designed to keep businesses organized and scalable.
What makes us different is that we do not operate as task based support providers simply checking items off a list. Our company was built by professionals who understand the industries we serve from the inside out. With more than two decades of real estate experience, broker level compliance expertise, legal and contract knowledge, and a team that understands the operational demands of fast paced businesses, we often function as a true extension of our clients’ companies rather than simply an outsourced service provider.
One thing I have always prioritized is building a business centered around consistency and long term relationships. We have clients who have trusted us for many years because they know we care deeply about protecting their businesses, maintaining high standards, and managing the details that often go unnoticed until they become expensive problems.
Brand wise, I am probably most proud of the reputation we have built over the last sixteen years. In an industry where support companies often come and go quickly, we have continued to grow because we focus heavily on reliability, ethical business practices, process driven systems, and genuinely caring about the long term success of the people we serve.
At the heart of everything we do, I want people to understand that SVA Services was never built simply to help people get more done. It was built to create peace of mind for business owners who need trusted operational support so they can focus on growth without constantly feeling overwhelmed by everything happening behind the scenes.
We are extremely intentional about the way we serve our clients, and I believe our commitment to excellence, integrity, and doing business the right way is ultimately what has allowed us to stand apart and continue growing for so many years.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me, without question, is family, faith, and building a life rooted in integrity.
For a long time, like many entrepreneurs, I measured success by productivity, growth, and constantly pushing toward the next goal. Over time, life taught me that none of those things mean very much if the people you love most are paying the price for your success.
Today, I care far more about creating stability, protecting my peace, and building businesses that allow me to be fully present for the people who depend on me because I have learned firsthand how quickly life can change what matters most.
Integrity also matters deeply to me. I believe how you do business matters just as much as whether you succeed. I have never been willing to compromise my values simply for growth. There have been times I have intentionally turned down new business because I knew we could not give our absolute best in that moment while still continuing to provide the level of quality our existing clients deserve. I believe that commitment to doing things the right way, even when it means saying no to opportunity, has played a huge role in shaping both the reputation I have built and the way I lead my team today.
Most importantly, my faith is the foundation that guides everything I do. Over the years, I have learned that no amount of planning can control every outcome, and one of the greatest lessons life has taught me is how to trust God fully while continuing to faithfully do the work placed in front of me each day.
At this stage of my life, I am far less interested in chasing success for the sake of achievement and far more focused on building a meaningful life, serving people well, protecting the things that matter most, and leaving behind a legacy my family can be proud of.
