Community Highlights: Meet Tambrea Hargrove of Miss Socialite Iniitiatives

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tambrea Hargrove.

Hi Tambrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am the founder and charity director of Miss Socialite Brunch. While leading young women in my hometown of Dillon, S.C. to discover their entrepreneurial spirit, I am crafting and building my own spirit of entrepreneurship as a communication and events professional with the recent development of my company, TVHC+E based in the Atlanta area. I originally went off to Columbia College and Norfolk State University to build my chances of being recognized at major corporate organizations such as Viacom to work in the entertainment industry as public relations professional. As a first-generation and small-town woman, that is better said than done. I felt myself losing purpose after all of the no’s. After refocusing, leaving my dead-end job, and building my charity, I found my spark of faith towards my career in entrepreneurship and public relations within the pandemic. I was also honored and accepted as a member in Forbes The Culture where partnerships, community relationships, and advisement from forward-thinking professionals of various communities is readily available.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I am no stranger to being told “no” or coined overqualified. I turned all of my obstacles into creation. From my experience, I created a book to inspire other recent graduates to continue pushing for success while recognizing where I have made many mistakes along my path to employment. One of the biggest lessons I mentioned in the book is knowing what is for me and when it is time to move on. Like my daddy says, “Know when to hold ’em and know when to fold’em. ” He is also the inspiration behind my pen name. There are many lessons to learn in life. My advice to anyone in a challenge is to grab pen, paper, write it down, and save it later. Later could be 2-5 years.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Miss Socialite Iniitiatives?
The organization started out as a brunch after founder Tambrea V. Hargrove was inspired by a Women In Media Brunch in Washington DC. After leaving Washington, DC, she planned a brunch for young women in Dillon, SC with panel filled with mentors and her network of friends from her time at Columbia College. The goal was to make young women aware of the infinite possibilities ahead regardless of background circumstances. The event happened on March 3, 2018. Today, the brunch is now a charity located in Dillon, SC. Miss Socialite Initiatives focus is to help young women to become aware of their entrepreneurial spirit and infinite possibilities ahead regardless of their circumstances. The issues are addressed through our values of socio-economic empowerment, community leadership, and education network. Along with our brunch, we have Miss Socialite Mentor 101 (wellness + mentorship opportunity) and the Young Socialite Scholarship Accelerator (seminar + scholarship competition). During the pandemic, the brunch has had two successful Facebook fundraising campaigns, the first virtual brunch, and two new community partnerships: Black Girls Link of New York and the Women’s Business Center of Columbia College.
