Community Highlights: Meet Tami Blackshear of Tami B. Lounge Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tami Blackshear.

Hi Tami, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
These past three years, I have dealt with many life adversities. From ending my 16-year marriage, losing my career job, being diagnosed with a chronic illness and my first mental health diagnosis: depression and major anxiety. These life obstacles broke me. My heart was shredded. I was restless, stressed and had no drive whatsoever. There were so many restless nights overwhelmed with thoughts about my health, my future, my finances, my family, etc. I was crying out to CHRIST asking for help and relief. Have you ever cried out to HIM? Have you ever been just lost? I would sit on my sofa at 2:00am and 3:00am with tears falling from my eyes, down my cheeks onto my chest uncontrollably. Those tears were so cold. The tears were so hard and painful. I had no plan b. I did not have any direction, I was lost and alone. I had family, friends, my sorority, my classmates, my daughter, my customers praying & fasting with me, checking in on me but yet I was still alone.

I found clarity and solace by diving into self-care opportunities and online therapy. Eating healthier, finding inner peace, meditation, drinking more water, working out and making time for myself allowed my decision-making to be more positive. It allowed my problem-solving strategies to be easier and less challenging. Self-restoration was a major goal. I needed additional help with moving forward and accepting all of the changes. I had to hire a therapist. This was life-changing and I wasn’t ready for these changes of life. However, therapy was a success. Through this journey, I created Tami B. Lounge Collection. TBLC promotes all things self-care. Self-care has been known to expand and prolong life expectancy. I’m pretty sure you want to live longer. Who doesn’t? The collection is a lifestyle, a simple, healthy and soft lifestyle. My collection represents PEACE, REST, RELAXATION, RESTORATION and RELEASE. TBLC is more than a branding collection; it’s a way of life. A new way of life for me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Along the way, I’ve learned that I thought my book of life was written. I thought I knew what my entire life would consist of. Boy was I wrong. During these challenging years, I literally show my life being taken from me (family, career job, my business, etc.) and the challenge was/is rebuilding while your empire plummeted.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Peace brings me and others around me make me happy. Having a peace of mind is so unrated. I didn’t realize how vital it was until my PEACE was disturbed. I did whatever I could to surround myself with peace when going through. Who doesn’t find peace lounging in your favorite comfortable lounge-wear, curled up on the sofa and reading your favorite novel? Who doesn’t enjoy a little time alone, reconnecting with yourself, meditating and manifesting on greater things? A scripture that was given to me and stayed in my heart while going through was Matthew 11:28. It reads, Come unto me and I will give you rest. Rest of stress was what I needed. Rest of my mind racing and worrying was what I longed for. Rest and relief of stress is what I prayed for.

I love lounge-wear but most importantly, I love cute, comfy, easy lounge-wear. I’m more at peace when I am clean, in comfy wear and lounging at home. So, lounge with me. Go on this journey with me. Let’s RELAX, RELATE and RELEASE. Until we meet again, blessings and peace to you and your family.
