Conversations with Deltre Baskin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deltre Baskin.

Hi Deltre, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2015, I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and Logistics & Intermodal Transportation. At the time, I thought I had landed my dream job opportunity in the Logistics field but like most, I ended up feeling like just another employee that was not valued, underpaid, and overworked. I was forced to work graveyard shifts and long hours. I knew I could not continue to work a job that did not allow room for a personal and social life. But y’all know the story, I continued to work somewhere where I wasn’t appreciated because I became a slave to the company, the money that I made and the things that it got me.

In 2017, my husband and I decided to purchase our 1st home. Needless to say, we did not have the best experience with our realtor. I ended up doing a lot of research throughout the transaction, including doing my own market analysis based on properties that had recently sold in the area and was able to advise our realtor on the purchase price and options we would counter with. Once our offer was accepted, I went further and did additional research on all things that needed to be handled during the purchase process and constantly touched base with both the builder and lender and followed through until all things on our punch-out list were taken care of.

After our 1st home purchase, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in real estate. My goal was to make sure all clients were well represented, advised of the process and documents needed to complete the transaction for a smooth closing. However, I was able to get out of operations and land an admin job within the company. This made me super comfortable and I sat on my real estate goal for a while. My husband constantly stayed on me, reminding me of my goal of becoming a Realtor. In 202o, I finally enrolled in real estate school.

When I finally finished real estate school and got licensed, I received news that my boss was fired and my job would be abolished. I was given an option to obtain a severance package or be demoted. I knew that was God’s timing telling me that the time to start my career in real estate was now. I know this sounds super cliché but when God closes one door, he opens another. I truly stand firm on that because my job getting abolished was one of the best things that could have happened to me because it forced me to move on to my passion. I had been dragging my feet when God had been calling me to do real estate all alone. Since that day, I have been helping families, friends, colleagues and clients purchase homes based on their needs and budget, all while ensuring that they are well represented throughout the process, making strong negotiations on my clients’ behalf and always following through with lenders, attorneys and builders until the completion of the transaction.

One thing about me, I will fight for my clients until the end!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a Realtor comes with everyday challenges. At this time, it is a seller’s market and sellers are taking the highest and best offer. That is why it is so important to have a Realtor such as myself that is a skilled negotiator and able to present a strong offer on your behalf.

On top of it being a seller’s market, interest rates are increasing, which means buyers have less buying power than they did a few years ago. However, that should not discourage buyers in this market. Contact me to discuss your options and down payment assistance programs that can help to increase your buying power.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Realtor specializing in residential real estate in the metro Atlanta area and surrounding cities.

I am most proud of being able to help families, friends and clients find their dream homes or sell their current homes and purchase their dream homes when most didn’t think it was possible. Buying a home is very achievable, and I want to assist in the process or normalizing that to my community and surrounding communities.
