Conversations with Foreva Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Foreva Rose.

Hi Foreva, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At the age of 5 I began my musical journey singing in the choir at church which led to me later discovering my abilities to write and compose music. By the age of 17 I began pursuing my career as an artist. Since then I’ve crossed paths with many icons and fan favorites developing my brand while expanding my horizon in the industry. My approach to this music industry is simply being myself. It took a while to get here. I like to think of myself true as a rose that grew from concrete. My musical inspirations are Michael Jackson, Missy Elliott, TLC, X scape, Earth Wind and Fire, SOS Band, and so many more from the foundation of music we all grew from today. My music gives a refreshing twist to the oldies while still relating to today. Being the youngest of 9 kids I just learned to appreciate the balance of many generations. I knew I was a star the first time a microphone touched my hand…since then the stage has been my playground. I used to feel ahead of my time but now I’m realizing the time was actually now. The world needs more love and compassion again. I miss when music and life was simply fun. That’s what music does, it reminds you that the world can still be filled with love, harmony and balance.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly if you were in front of me my face would say it all. Lol. It was definitely NOT. “A rose that grew from concrete” There were many battles along the way. Many independent labels. Of course I’ve been scammed several times..Spending money I didn’t have. Days of feeling like a failure. Then there was love. The heartbreaks and loneliness. Trauma and abuse. Marriage and then divorce. I’d say with everything I went through it made me who I am today though. Hardships are something familiar to me. I’d have to say the biggest of them all was realizing it was me holding me back the entire time.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I sing, write and rap. I make melodic, rap, r&b , heart and soul and pop music. I actually started out writing poems after my grandmother died at 9. I was freestyling on the phone with my incarcerated brother at the time and at lunch tables in middle school. Singing at talent shows and performing at pep rallies. From elementary being in chorus to traveling to different states in Highschool. Music has always been my thing. I’m most proud of performing classical pieces in New York at 16 years old with GHS traveling choir led by James Lindsey. My chorus teacher Mr. Lindsey is a huge part of the reason Foreva Rose has the confidence she does. I feel that my musical talents and unique personality along with the journey I’ve been on is what makes me stick out. It just took years to realize that I was never made or meant to fit in.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been the odd ball. The “black sheep” of my family. The goofy and energetic kid that couldn’t sit down. I was always dancing or somewhere singing. My siblings are all 10-20 years older than me so I was always playing with my friends and cousins. Growing up in the country was being outside everyday all day. Walking to meet your friends and being back home when the street light came on. My parents were much older than most of my friends, so I was kind of a rebellious and sneaky kid from restriction. I was active and athletic. If I wasn’t somewhere dancing I was somewhere singing in my karaoke machine and talking about how famous I’d be with my bestfriend Chevy.
