Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Collins.
Hi Jasmine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Jasmine Collins, better known as Jazzidakid I have been entertaining with acting, dancing music and overall entertaining since the age of 12. I’ve been to too many auditions and tried out for so many things sometimes, I got yes and sometimes no, but I never gave up. I’ve done a multitude of shows in the city of Milwaukee, WI with rapping at 16 and Acting in college and doing plays inside and out of school. Acting is my priority profession. I’ve been involved in personal vlogs, social media comedy videos, and short films. My goals are to not only act and get involved in many projects but to also sharpen my skills with each project.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. As I’ve grown in entertaining, I’ve realized that I have days where I want to give up because I may want more in life and feel as if I am not where I want to be in life, so sometimes it frustrates me and I grow discouraged. For example, some days I would compare myself to others it will cause me to shut down and not even be on social media and just have a day where I break down and cry or pray and just seek God‘s face for clarity understanding and to allow the Holy Spirit to minister to me and remind me of who I am in God and what he has called me to do and for me to continue to walk in purpose no matter what it looks like.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So I am an entertainer/creator and under the branch of entertaining, I act, I sing, I dance, I rap and I am a host. Sometimes it is a struggle having all these different things that I want to do and know how to do it because I just don’t know where to start, but overall I love entertaining everyone and bringing joy to people on my social media platforms like TickTock Facebook Instagram Snapchat YouTube and things of that nature. So pretty much every day, I come up with an idea in my head or have ideas written down and I take that idea and create it on Tiktok and posted on all my social media platforms and boom, there is a video now depending on if it’s going to go viral or not that’s up to you guys lol. I’m gonna post it anyway because I enjoy it.
I am proud of my growth spiritually because if I am not led by the Holy Spirit, I am doomed because I can allow my emotions to control me a lot so being led by the Holy Spirit it encourages me and brings me joy and peace and helps me to continue to do what I love to do even when it seems like it’s not working or it’s not moving fast enough. What sets me apart from others is just literally being who I am in my videos, not caring what I look like when I post or who’s watching just totally being me and having a secret hidden talent of imitating I feel as though I’m the only female that can imitate a man’s voice. I have to literally hear him and literally repeat what I heard, and it is so funny to me.
What were you like growing up?
Honestly, I’ve been the same person since I was a child, if not a little more exaggerated today. I never really lost who I was until I had children and I became a mom and a wife in college so I had to kinda have a down moment and kind of reboot myself better than I was before and I feel even more confident than I did before because I really truly honestly don’t care what people say I just wanna be me and let people gravitate to that. Growing up, I was always the life of the party at all the family events and even at school, I was always the center of attention. Rather I was dancing, acting or trying to make people laugh and I’m the same way today!
