Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Jennifer Jackson, and I am a professional makeup artist, published photographer, and the owner of Jennifer J. Artistry, based in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a natural-born creative who has a passion for beauty, content design, photography, and healthy living. As a native of Cleveland, Ohio, I’ve always dreamed of moving to another city while achieving my dreams of expressing my God-given creativity to its fullest potential.

As a self-taught makeup artist, I have been an avid lover of makeup and professionally practicing in my artistry for over fifteen years. Before my relocation to Atlanta, I was trained as a professional makeup artist, perfecting my craft in bridal and in-studio makeup, including airbrushing, proper application and color correction, and custom blended skin-enhancing with foundation, concealer, and powder. My objective as your makeup artist is to provide a professional, yet quality service of makeup artistry that you deserve. My signature look will have to feel stunning, sophisticated, and glamorous Plus, heads will turn once you enter the room!

I am also a published photographer with a passion for capturing all things beauty. While studying Graphic Design during college and with over fifteen years of makeup artistry experience, my passion for mixing beauty and art as a visual storyteller is inevitable. My photography business under Jennifer J. Artistry loves to shoot beauty and lifestyle portraiture for phenomenal business owners.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, in an ideal world, the road would be smooth as ice, but realistically, it is not. As a creative and small business owner, we are faced with challenges; however, it is how we prevail through the challenges that sets us apart. One of my beliefs about artists/creatives is that we are resilient – we roll through the punches and always come out stronger. In particular, I decided to relocate to another city. I knew there would be some road bumps along the way, and I tried my best to prepare myself. Being from the Midwest, the culture in Atlanta is different, and it took me some time to adjust. Of course, leaving my family and missing them is a challenge. I moved to Atlanta eight years ago, and looking back at all of the highs and lows, I know that I made the best decision for me and my artistry.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As you may know by now, I am a professional makeup artist and photographer, based in Atlanta. For makeup, I specialize in bridal and beauty makeup artistry for special events, photography for business owners, and corporate professionals. Even though I am based in Atlanta, I do offer my services via travel for clients. I have been a makeup artist for over 16 years and in business for 10 years. I am most proud of my accomplishments since I relocated to Atlanta. Many people ask why I am not a “celebrity makeup artist”. Preferably, I serve everyday working women, and I enjoy all of my clients – they are my real celebrities. However, if Michelle Obama or Oprah Winfrey reaches out to me for makeup, I would be honored!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I would refer my luck as God’s blessings. God has continued to bless me throughout my journey as a creative and business owner. I have a successful, faith-driven business, and I am proud of myself for pushing and working towards living fully in my purpose. God has blessed me with amazing clients and a community of like-minded business owners, where they refer my services to their family, friends, and colleagues.
