Conversations with Jon Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Alexander.

Hi Jon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off promoting parties. My brothers and I started a promotion named “Black Monopoly Ent” in 2005, if I’m not mistaken. From there, I got into managing and working with an artist. The first artist I worked with was “Lonnie Mac”. He was signed to the Aphilliate (DJ Drama). After that, I worked with Mishon, a very talented singer. Then I came a talented young lady by the name of Dutchess. We went on the road opening for Young Dro. I always had a potnas over at Grand Hustle. A couple of years went by and in 2016, Dro asked if I wanted to be his road manager and the rest is history. I’ve learned so much from my big bro Dro. I’m very thankful he gave me this opportunity.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but it hasn’t been that bumpy either. Young Dro is a platinum-selling artist, so I had to learn a lot on the go and fast. Hell, I’m still learning things everyday.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Outside of being Young Dro’s road manager. I also work with a couple of artists outside of Atlanta, helping them and introducing them to the right people they need to meet. I have a nonprofit organization called “The Big Jon Foundation”. Last Christmas I sponsored four families for the holidays. I teamed up with my potna Quinton Davis and Young Dro, we rode around in a box truck, giving away pallets of food throughout the city. I’m also the head of the booster club for the Southwest Dekalb Lady Panthers basketball team. I bought the team shoes and second jerseys.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Be realistic with yourself. Never settle. Keep God or whoever you praise first.
