Today we’d like to introduce you to Juju Stone.
Hi Juju, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve known I wanted to make music since I was dropped on this earth I got a headstart playing “concert” with my cousins headlining made up shows, singing in church, and I would write songs in my notebook that I would never share with anyone but one day in 2018 I found a studio home and I released my very first single that same year. At the time I was very scared of public scrutiny so I didn’t release anymore music until years later in 2021 after I found myself becoming a socialite in the Atlanta club scene.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Truly it has not been easy for me when it comes to music. I love the art and I love the way music makes people feel things but the process is never as easy as it looks. The amount of time and money spent on beat selections, photo shoots, cover arts, studio time, and even going to countless studios to find an engineer that perfectly understands my sound, especially as a queer artist it’s definitely been tough but it has been rewarding.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I rap, I sing, I song write , and I’m a photographer. I am just a full on creative.
I’m most known for being unapologetically myself. Between constantly changing visual aesthetics and my music blending confidence, storytelling, and personality, I’m also building my audience by staying authentic instead of chasing trends. Whether it’s through my visuals, my live shows, or just what I’ve been doing on social media, people know they’re going to get the real Juju Stone every single time.
I’m the most proud of how I maintain and keep my growing fan base nurtured and how often I can catch people’s eyes and ears I don’t think people usually expect half the things that fly out of my mouth.
I think the main thing that sets me apart from others would be my drive and determination all while having as much personality as I have.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The only real advice I have for anyone looking for a mentor is to get in the field. When I first came on the scene in Atlanta I didn’t really know anyone, but I didn’t let that stop me. I spoke to people regularly I got to know people, got familiar with the market, and just kept placing myself where I felt I needed to be.
